SIERRA HURTT - " Butterflies " ( Deep Soul Mix )

"It all starts with an emotion," explains songwriter/vocalist/producer Sierra Hurtt of the creative process that results in her timeless, passionate songs. With the release of her debut EP, 8 or 80, in 2009, Sierra emerged as a fresh, new voice on the international scene. Establishing herself as one of the most versatile new voices in music today, she infused acoustic soul with pop sensibilities, while blending flavors from all of her favorite genres -- Latin, fado, celtic, jazz and rock -- into an enticing cocktail. Delivered with her signature honey-tinged vocals, it proved to be a powerful combination. Her first single, Rooftops, features backing vocals from another musical family member -- her sister -- Gabrielle Hurtt, as well as soul sensation, Vivian Green. The track earned her worldwide critical acclaim and garnered her fans in all four corners of the globe. Sierra, however, is no stranger to the business.

Born just outside Philadelphia, Sierra recalls being surrounded by music at an early age. "My father has had a pretty successful career as a songwriter and producer, so I was fortunate to be immersed in a lot of creativity when I was a child." With "cousins" like Sister Sledge and "uncles" like powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Bunny Sigler, not to mention her award-winning father, Phil Hurtt, one would think her destiny was pre-determined. But Sierra initially chose a different path. "Although I was always somehow involved with music, I went the theater route for a while. And I loved acting but, in the end, music is my religion."

After a brief residency in England, Sierra returned to Philadelphia and met guitarist Ross Landy. The duo formed Euclid Street, a musical chameleon that, all told, performed and/or recorded with as many as 13 contributing musicians, including Chuck Treece (McRad, Billy Joel, Bad Brains) and Kevin Hufnagel (Dysrhythmia, Byla). While in the band, Sierra honed her songwriting skills; discovering quickly that she didn't fit into any particular genre. "It was frustrating at times, because people either wanted me to be an all-out soul singer or to be Tracy Chapman. I had to deal with a lot of confusion because I didn't fit into someone's neat, little box."

Sierra found that the solution was to continue writing songs that could speak to listeners across genres. "I write what I know, or at least what I, as a human being, can empathize with; love, loss, the journey of life." Her lyrics are what draw the listener in and surprise many critics; poignant, but simple. She writes songs that everyone can relate to, while avoiding cliché, with melodies that are instantly familiar. 2010 has revealed a new side to her personality, as Sierra released Imaginarium; an EP of remixes from 8 or 80 done by various DJs and producers she'd met over the last year. "I have been truly humbled by the international response to my songs. To be able to work with these guys has been nothing short of amazing, truly."
Brazil's Daniel Gavilán, the UK's Merv Carswell, Vy Jundulas (DJ Junduls) from Lithuania and Italy's Gianluca Pighi, among others, reinterpret Sierra's material into something altogether different; altering her sound for dance floors around the world. Sierra is enjoying every moment. "I love hearing the different versions; having everyone put their own stamp on my work. I recorded some additional vocals for a few of the tracks. I think people will be pleasantly surprised. And they'll definitely dance."

Sierra Hurtt is currently working on new songs for her first full-length CD, once again drawing on her many influences, but will tour the US and the UK this Fall. She finds herself collaborating, once more, with people she's met through the success of her releases. "I'm writing in the way that I love, while also using musical vocabulary and phrasing that are fresh for me. I love learning new styles, new languages. I'm really enjoying the process and the songs."

It took a while but finally \"Bring me up\" by Scottish producer Jim McGeachan (under his Stereofunk disguise) and American singer, songwriter, producer and actor Morrisson will get a proper release. \"Bring me up\" is an uplifting production featuring passionate vocals by Morrisson alongside lush keys and chords over intriguing rhythms. 

Funk Manouver intensify the vibe to give you a prime time weapon at hand, while Stereofunk himself delivers sheer musical bliss with his \'Soul Mix\', a truly soulful affair combining Morrisson\'s outstanding vocals with exquisite melodies. Morrisson is an American dance music, house music singer, songwriter, producer and actor. A California native based in San Francisco Bay Area, he was discovered by house music veteran DJ/Producer Julius Papp and hired to do vocal session and songwriting work for Julius\' NeoDisco label releases. 

Morrisson\'s first solo release on his own Ovation Music Recordings label, was a 131bpm, high-energy, disco-house track called \"Love of My Life\", which reached #15 on the Billboard Magazine Hot Dance Airplay in February 2006. It is featured on the dance mix compilation Ultra.Weekend 2. However, he eventually found his niche in deep, soulful house and has since written and produced several tracks in that sub-genre of dance music. 

Morrisson continues collaborations with Julius Papp, Vincent Kwok, DJ MFR, Groove Junkies, Franky Boissy, DJ Smash, Colin Sales, Dario D\'Attis, Haldo, Lenny Fontana, Thomas DeLorenzo, Blacksonix, Richard Pring, and Stereofunk. He has releases on various house music labels including NeoDisco (SF), Eight-Fifteen (SF), Transport Recordings (SF), Celebrity Recordings (Minn), Swank Recordings, Onethirty (Minn), Universe Media (U.K.) and Myna Recordings (U.K.). 

He frequently performs live in California as well as having performed around the world in such places as Playa del Carmen, Mexico; Seoul, South Korea; Singapore, Thailand; Shanghai and more.
