Roy Ayers - Liquid Love (Mitiko Edit) - Free Download

A lament  about the state of affairs at the beginning of the Reagan years. 

With respect, I cut and rearranged it extensively, keeping what I felt were still the most relevant lyrics for 2013.
Although there were a number of short instrumental parts later in the track, there was  literally no clean loop for the introduction so I had to create one by cutting and splicing small grabs from the main body of the tune and reconstructing a series of instrumental loops for this purpose. 

The structure of the original is introduction _ poem _ song. 
I rearranged this using the song parts as a chorus with the selected poem parts as a form of verse in between, and attempted to keep true to the flow and build of the original. Not too heavy but still to the point. 

Added some extra drums for more stomp, some subtle effects and layering of bass sections. Moved the tempo up to 107. Hope you enjoy it!

I Was Astronaut Kid by KilliKea

Jamaican saxophonist & arranger Cedric Im Brooks is one of my most cherished reggae artist. Actually, confining him to the reggae scene would be a massive understatement. 
A brilliant musician, he kept on blurring the lines between spiritual Free-jazz (think Sun Ra), Afro grooves (think Fela), Latin rhythms and, of course, Reggae. 
A cornerstone of legendary label Studio One, his musical legacy is impressive and if you're not familiar with him, I urge you to dig into his most famous albums, mostly recorded in the 70's with his band The Light Of Saba ("United Africa", "Im Flash Forward" or "The Magical Light Of Saba") & get ready for some colourful funky journey.

"Africa" is one of my favorite track by him, an afro-funk jam whose joyful & infectious horns chorus is hard to resist. With a clear hint at the "back to Motherland" Rasta myth, "Africa" is also a great example of Cedric's spiritual Rastafari faith, often present in his songs lyrics.
Here is my DJ-friendly nudisco-flavored edit of it.

Kokolo, also known as the Kokolo Afrobeat Orchestra, is an American Afrobeat band from the Lower East Side of New York City, formed in 2001 by songwriter/producer Ray Lugo. Along with The Daktaris and Antibalas, they form part of the early New York Afrobeat scene that ignited the genre’s current global revival. Their punk-infused blend of Afro-beat, salsa, jazz, and funk has taken them all over the world. 

The band's self-produced debut album, Fuss and Fight, was engineered by Gabriel Roth and released in 2002, followed by More Consideration in 2004, Love International in 2007 and Heavy Hustling in 2009

Yambú - Sunny (Whiskey Barons Rework)

A rework of a 1978 b-side tune by London's Hi Tension. The original is one of my favourite downtempo boogie tunes, I wanted to to do an updated broken beat remix of this, pushing the tempo up as much as is respectful,  and make an extended edit. I also tried to add some newer production elements, cutting it up in a hip hop sampling style and work in a dub/reggae disco flavor and towards the tail.Hope you like it.
