For our 15th guest mix, we are proud to present you a guest that we have been following since a long time, someone who we consider as one of the pioneers of the melodic techno scene

Born in 1988 in Tirana (AL), started his dj career at the age of 15. After years of underground culture started also the experience of production in 2007. Inspired by the new wave of electronic music, deeply, emotional and full of vibration was one of the first trying to put together melodic house and techno music. Atmospheric pad's and melodic warm synth's with rich basses characterize his productions. During the years he got supported heavily by Tale Of Us and released in label such as Armada Music with a remix to the master of Trance music Armin Van Buuren. 

Together with his manager Ciro Acciarino, he runs one of the most exciting labels on the scene, called Black Rose, specialized in underground avant-garde music that discovers and has unique artists. In constant evolution but still remaining in the minds of his base fans from his performances around the world.

In this mix he displays his signature sound in a mix filled with own productions. We are proud to present you, Erly Tepshi.

Phi Phi returns to Bonzai Progressive alongside label debutant Ignace Paepe, with the superb ‘Luminous Waves’. Over the years, Phi Phi has been a constant force in the progressive and trance music scene, remaining deeply connected to his musical origins. With numerous residencies, club sets, and festival performances under his belt, he has earned a legendary reputation among his peers. His passion and steadfast dedication to the genre are evident in every track he produces. We are delighted to welcome him back once again. Belgian DJ, producer and actor Ignace Paepe realised their passion for electronic music at age 15 and their love for House and Techno music led them to iconic venues like Cherry Moon, inspiring a lifelong connection to the scene. After acquiring their first DJ equipment in 1994, Ignace became a regular in Belgium's music scene but eventually stepped back to pursue a healthier lifestyle in 2000. In 2019, they returned to music with a radio show on Villa Bota, blending vinyl and digital DJing. Today, Ignace shares their journey of self-acceptance, promoting individuality and self-expression through music and film.

‘Luminous Waves’ opens the release with driving beats, plucky bass notes and airy FX. Shuffling percussion patterns add a rhythmic complexity the powers the groove. Dreamy atmospherics unfold, with ethereal pads and delicate melodies for an otherworldly feel. The bassline is warm and plucky, balancing the low-end while a gritty, bassy synth injects a dose of energy. The break opens up the spectrum, shepherding in infectious dreamy textures that give way to a short build-up and back into full-on mode for the duration. ‘Radial Flow’ concludes the release and bursts with intensity from the start. Driven by powerful beats and spritely hi-hats that keep the rhythm crisp and lively, Infectious percussions add to the groove, while a rolling bassline shores up the low-end with steady momentum. Gritty stabs inject a rawness, contrasting with emotive melodies that bring a touch of euphoria. Playful arpeggios dance through the mix, adding brightness and movement, creating a dynamic flow that will keep you hooked.

Jaydee is joined by two iconic artists, Manu Riga and Phi Phi, also known as Kayinda, who return to the label with their Dub Remix. After collaborating on multiple projects over the years, the duo officially formed Kayinda, gaining recognition through a series of standout tracks and remixes released on respected labels. With each release, they continue to solidify their presence in the music scene. The remix here takes us into darker territory, driving forward with solid, punchy beats and shimmering hi-hats, creating a deep, hypnotic groove. Layered with rhythmic percussions and droning basses, the energy builds in a moody undercurrent as dark stabs echo in a call-and-response pattern. Trippy, Hammond-style riffs swirl through the mix while Infectious synths pull you in, evoking nostalgic vibes reminiscent of the mighty Plastic Dreams. A truly immersive, late-night journey that is not to be missed.

Dj Phi Phi’s career started in 1985.
One of most reputed belgium night club requested Phi Phi as resident DJ at “At The Villa” in 1987.
Following the several ascension as resident Dj at all biggest & famous nightlife in clubs such as Boccaccio Life (Destelbergen-Be) and Cirao (WaregemBe) in 1993. He was Phi Phi resident dj at Cafe d’Anvers in 1994, Tour & Taxi (1996), Fuse, Oxygene, Pulp (2001) & Barocco.
Known all over Belgium for his “Phi Phi Legendary Monday’s” at Extreme (Affligem, Brussels) between 1994 and 2002.
He has been played at worldwide Clubs & Festivals as Tomorrowland, Legacy Festival, WMC, Nikki Beach (Miami), Privilege (Ibiza), Noxx (Anvers), Fuse (Brussel), Pulse Factory with headliners such as Paul Van Dyk, John Digweed, Sasha, Oliver Lieb (LSG), Laurent Garnier & Danny Howells..

PRODUCER CAREER
Debut music producing started in completely french collaboration with Philippe Van Mullem in 1989 with, inter alia, UNA (Emotion, Can you hear me..), HONEY C (Stop the disease, Desire..), INNERTALES (Odysee, Voices Of Sirens..), QUADRAN (Eternaly, Free your mind..) and following the Quadran Debut Album “VOYAGE” which is kick-started movements of melodic & uplifting trance.

In 1995, Phi-Phi and French Dj-Producer Gregory Dewindt debut massive revelation “PHI PHI & GREG D – Jesus Trip” (X-Stream / DIKI Records) which has definitely burned the nightlife and got lot of influences, the most famous tune in belgian DJ scene and still a legendary track today, then this greatest seller announced the following amazing Duo classic & popular release “L’Odysee Of Love” & “Contact” on Bonzaï Trance Progressive.

Label brand Mackenzie Recordings founded by Stef Garner & Patrick Fasseau trusts to Phi Phi whose both tracks “Magma” & “Jungles Trip” cames out in 2003.
Then Stef Garner and Phi Phi, under the nick name “DB Movement”, released the house track “Funk Shaker” (WORK Records) in 2005 and both tracks “Rotation” & Evidence” (LCD Recordings) in 2013.

Phi Phi & Airwaves started kind of very british progressive sounds inspired of Bedrock style. Influenced so far by Sasha & John Digweed, their tracks such as “Back on track”, “Breeze on the nile”, “The Horn”, “Vanilla” & “Finesse” signed on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE get on top in best seller Beatport and Itunes in 2013.

2014 saw the new collaboration with Label founder IFONIKA RECORDINGS and friend, Roddy Reynaert. Their First E.P “Platinum” & “Neurotrope” has been released on special “Underground Series” on Roddy ‘s Label IFONIKA.

From 2015 to 2017, “Atlan”, “Believe”, “Mayhem” “Circulation” “Haarp” “Aokighara” “Tempora” “Cirao” + Remix were released with Roddy on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE rec.
“Tour & Taxi” “Corossol” and a remix of G-Brown “This is who we are” on SUFFUSED Rec

Plus alone projects : “Alone” “Hiccup” “Esteem” “Breaking Danger”
and compilation PHI PHI In The Mix 004 on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE.

2019 saw the new collaboration with Manu Riga and the release on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE of “Moon Dust” Those Who Left Us” and “Voyage a Goa” “Larmes Dans La Pluie” …

For now he has got several new projects in the pipeline and has his monthly podcast program ‘Mouvement Perpetuel’ that has become a regular club concept in 2019!
In 2020 Phi-Phi celebrates his 35 years as being a dj and producer with a club, event and festival tour!
