SKIE- BITCHIN’ BREAKS PART 2-‘21. 30 years of Skie 2021

Not a song or a track, or even a DJ tool.  This is a DJ Weapon, forged in the heat of battle, fists raised asking "Who wants some Knuckles"?  We all know music calms the savage beast and this is the remedy.  You don't need a vaxx card here.  Just a good set of ears.  

No one has to say anything to realize I paid my dues in this culture.  The legendary stats mean absolutely nothing.  No King had died and left me in his place.  No King, No Queen, No Jack.  But I got aces.  Aces Of Spades, Aces Of Clubs what have you.

If there is ever a Masterclass to be shown, it begins today.  I'm not here to stop the New World Order or the elites.  But If you are tracking, I am Jacking.  Jacking world class beats that move some feets.

UP OFF THE GROUND / BONESBREAKS / HOUSE DJ TOOL

Summer 1990, we had moved to a place in the East End called Custom House, virtually opposite a place where I went swimming as a teenager in 1983 called Becton Lido. It was a warm summer but not quite as hot as 1989. I can remember going mad about Bounty Mini Ice Creams that summer lol.

The rave scene had started to come alive a bit now and my brother was putting on his own raves out in Kent as we had quite a connection out in Swale/Thanet. We used to do a Sunday event in a club called Studio 2 in Canterbury, it was pretty funny watching all of our Essex mates congregate to Canterbury on a Sunday afternoon.

My brother also put on an outdoor rave with his mate in a little place called Baddlesmere in the Kent countryside, it went on all night and the following day ( most of the tunes on this mix remind me of that party) I can remember the next day everyone  laying around listening to KLF Chill out, that album will always hold precious memories to me.

We attended Glastonbury that year (my first time) I remember seeing Orbital play live there :) It was magical, I also saw a friend of ours Nick Melton dancing like a crazy hippy and the fire sticks in the ground caught fire to his top, I can remember trying to tell him and he just kept pointing at me dancing until he realised he was on fire ...very funny but freaked me out a bit at the time. The Hari Krishna tent pulled me in and I remember dancing about with them. My brothers wife Lesley had a job on the Isle Of Dogs which was under development at the time, they were building Canary Wharf. 

I also attended a little rave called The Chicken Shack which was in Billericay in Essex, l left my door keys to the flat in the car and it got broken in to … my brother and his wife were on holiday so my friend Dal had to kick the door in for me, he’d recently grown a beard as he wanted vengeance for what happened to him in the Barking Road basement, when he collected me his beard had gone, meaning he got his vengeance.

I'm a DJ, I play other people's music (with the odd production masterpiece)....I mix & blend using my brain and hands, no sync or mixing desk here, just a basic set up with a couple of tiny 300's, some 1210's from 1992 and an amp from 1997 :D

Heavily influenced in the early 70’s by my fathers taste in Electronic music /Kraftwerk/Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, I was also a big Vangelis & Moroder fan growing up. My teenage years in the 80’s consisted of listening to early 80’s Hip Hop & Electro, Key-Matic, Man Parrish, Bambaata & SSF, Eric B & Rakim. I lived in East London where street breakdancing/body popping was at its peak. Alternative to electrical music I was also a big fan of revival Ska/Two tone bands throughout the late 70’s early 80’s and still am to date.

My DJ’ing journey all started on the London M25 Acid House Warehouse scene back in 1988/89 which inspired me to learn to mix House & Techno in 1990.  I pretty much love most genre's/sub genre's of Dance Music and  mix it all from vinyl to digital.



In 1991 I worked in my brothers record shop "Total Music" in Canning Town in East London, it was there I got the opportunity to secure a weekly radio show on Londons Pulse FM 90.6. Consequently I started to get bookings for New Age Productions "Harmony" Hackney1991 -The Bass Box Edmonton, Labrynth Dalston Lane, Double Dipped @ Bagleys Warehouse, Ministry Of Sound, Moondance & Love Rave at Camden Koko, Innovation @ Club UN plus many more. I also co-produced a Piano Hardcore track on Soapbar Records back in 1993 and have remixed various tracks for Total Music (Verde Sative) @ Soapbar Reload as the Social Chameleons(with Model from Liquid/Sweet Harmony)producing a Liquid Breaks mix. 

To date you can catch me playing at Various Old Skool events including The mighty “Moondance”, The legendary “Labrynth”. I also have a residency at the South coasts finest charity rave Encapsulated Energy plus various events across the UK spinning Old Skool House/Early 90’s Breakbeat Hardcore/Breaks/Deep-Tech House/Progressive/Uplifting Trance, Old Skool era’s.
