I've been reliably informed that I went to Linford Film Studios. I've absolutely no recollection of it, so it must have been a cracking night. 👍 😀 👏

This mix-The end of this year 1989, as the police were coming down hard on the promoters and ravers and the Autumn/ winter started to set in it became harder to put illegal raves on as the police intelligence had grown and the conservative party did not want the promoters to get any financial gain tax free, Margaret Thatcher and her team had started to bring in laws to stop these events.  My brother Joe invested in a rave to be held in a warehouse in Brixton called Magicke ( flyer on mix picture) designed by an artist in Faversham in Kent, sadly the venue was rumbled by the police that evening and shut down before we could even start, we spent that night in a small south London ‘boozer’ necking Brandy’s.

  NYE 1989 Sunrise had organised a rave but this did not happen, alternatively we all were tipped off to head to slough for a Biology Rave at a Panasonic 
warehouse. We headed there and was found at the bottom of a lorry bay where people were being lifted up to get in to the rave, It was freezing cold that night, the ice was really bad.

The tune of the night NYE 1989 has to be Orbital "Chime", it was an amazing tune to wave goodbye to one of the best years ever, however,  I could feel that night that what we had was coming to an end, The vibe was different, there were fights and arguments, bad people had started to attend the raves and pressure was on due to the Government and Police clamping down. The music had changed also, it was heading in a more darker, meloncoly sound, not something that would make you smile and throw your hands up.

The next morning I headed out in the freezing cold in my red duffle coat back to the car actually looking forward to getting home and sitting around the gas fire.

1990 was upon us.

After living with my brother and his wife at their house in Grays Essex I found myself and them abrubtly having to leave due to the Police possibly making an attendance.  We packed up and headed to East London as quickly as we could.

We ended up sleeping on the carpeted floor of my brothers friend Warren's flat in a tower block in Plaistow East London. We would wake up with Warren absolutely wired on Coke hoovering around our heads at 06:00AM, we knew he wasn't happy with us being there lol.

The music and scene took quite a turn, The illegal raves were very scarce by the first few months of 1990 due to new laws.  Undesirable people started to sell dodgy drugs therefore the happy, loving vibe seemed to be dispapearring, consequently the music moved in to a more darker/melancoly sound.  

We wasn't at Warrens long before we found a basement flat in Plaistow to 'hide out' in. We used to listen to Fantasy FM, it was pretty much on the radio 24/7 where we experienced the birth of the bleep :)

RIP Warren.

As we head to the end of 1990 as I remember it, I was living in a place called "Isle of Dogs" to be named in the future "The London Docklands" I watched the DLR grow (Docklands Light Railway) and saw the early erection of Canary Wharf, with its blue wrapping and a rather large crane! 

Sundays we would head under the Thames in the foot tunnel to Greenwich which was like heading in to a different world, street acts by The Cutty Sark and the hippy & spiritual markets were in full force. We were listening to Fantasy FM on the regular and paging in. LFO and psychotropic "out of My Head" take me right back to those days.

My brother has started promoting events in Linford Film Studios  Battersea Called "Faith" with DJ's such as Steve Canueto, Marc Aubach, DJ Hyde from Fantasy (who we became friends with) G Force (from Fantasy) and many more. The music was a combo of UK House 'n' Techno with a lot of Euro (some featured on here) but I'll be doing a Faith party mix very soon.
His parties had a broadcasting company film the events and one particular with DJ Elaine and BSB (British Satelite Broadcasting) who merged with SKY, he was filmed completely off his head when they interviewed him yet it still went out :))The Faith raves  were very successful, he built up and crowd and a mailing list (which was eventually stolen by a lighting guy called Paul) ro run their own events, I think they became Coalesce or something like that from memory.

I'm a DJ, I play other people's music (with the odd production masterpiece)....I mix & blend using my brain and hands, no sync or mixing desk here, just a basic set up with a couple of tiny 300's, some 1210's from 1992 and an amp from 1997 :D

Heavily influenced in the early 70’s by my fathers taste in Electronic music /Kraftwerk/Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, I was also a big Vangelis & Moroder fan growing up. My teenage years in the 80’s consisted of listening to early 80’s Hip Hop & Electro, Key-Matic, Man Parrish, Bambaata & SSF, Eric B & Rakim. I lived in East London where street breakdancing/body popping was at its peak. Alternative to electrical music I was also a big fan of revival Ska/Two tone bands throughout the late 70’s early 80’s and still am to date.

My DJ’ing journey all started on the London M25 Acid House Warehouse scene back in 1988/89 which inspired me to learn to mix House & Techno in 1990.  I pretty much love most genre's/sub genre's of Dance Music and  mix it all from vinyl to digital.



In 1991 I worked in my brothers record shop "Total Music" in Canning Town- East London, it was there I got the opportunity to secure a weekly radio show on Londons Pulse FM 90.6. Consequently I started to get bookings for New Age Productions "Harmony" Hackney1991 -The Bass Box Edmonton, Labrynth Dalston Lane, Double Dipped @ Bagleys Warehouse, Ministry Of Sound, Moondance & Love Rave at Camden Koko, Innovation @ Club UN plus many more. I also co-produced a Piano Hardcore track on Soapbar Records back in 1993 and have remixed various tracks for Total Music (Verde Sative) @ Soapbar Reload as the Social Chameleons(with Model from Liquid/Sweet Harmony)producing a Liquid Breaks mix. 

To date you can catch me playing at Various Old Skool events including The mighty “Moondance”, The legendary “Labrynth”. I also have a residency at the South coasts finest charity rave Encapsulated Energy plus various events across the UK spinning Old Skool House/Early 90’s Breakbeat Hardcore/Breaks/Deep-Tech House/Progressive/Uplifting Trance, Old Skool era’s.
