Back To The Hardhouse

DJ Stress – Chicago Born. Vinyl Raised.

Straight outta Logan Square, DJ Stress was shaped by the sounds of Chicago legends like Bad Boy Bill and Julian Jumpin’ Perez. At just 11, he got his first taste of the Technic 1200s, and it lit a fire that never went out.

By 15, he had his own setup and was locked in—mixing, scratching, and building a vinyl collection that would fuel gigs across the city. By 17, he was spinning high school dances, underground parties, and throwing events with some of the city’s biggest crews.

That momentum led to the launch of Make Some Noise Entertainment, where DJ Stress headlined parties and pushed the scene forward with over 50 mixtape releases—including *Holding On To Love*, one of the standout House/Freestyle mixes of the '90s. He also landed spots on B96’s Sunday Night Street Flava and held residencies at clubs like The Club House and The Black Hole.

After a solid run, DJ Stress took a step back to focus on family—but never fully stepped away. Under the alias DJ Impulze, he dropped *Back To the HardHouse* and *Progressive Punch* returned for a few club sets in the early 2000s.

Today, the turntables might not spin daily, but the passion for House music still runs deep.
