I discovered Frankie Knuckles through his music, one that was, gentle, lush with a subdued, understated power that rocked many a dancefloor.
I had the privilege to hear him once in the heyday of his legendary residency at Sound Factory Bar in New York. I was submerged, sonically and emotionally by the beauty of the music I heard that night. I remember very clearly saying to myself that this would be impossible to ever equal.
That was 20 years ago, and I never got to hear this magic combination again.

I got to meet Frankie a few times, and he was always like his music, gentle, humble,   yet naturally imposing

I've put together here some of my favorite music from him. So that his legacy can keep on inspiring other people.

Rest in peace, Frankie, may your music keep on moving people eternally

A proper re-edit of my favorite bits from both the LP and DP's official remix versions.
While I'd love you to have it, it is unofficial, so I can only have it streaming here as a showcase of my editing work. Original remix is linked

Paft Dunk - Got Lucky Dimitri From Paris Re - Edit

Next up on The Reflex’s official vinyl label DISCOLIDAYS is a two tracker fully licensed from Cerrone via Because Music / Malligator featuring first time ever multi remix from the classic ‘Look For Love’ by The Reflex (the original was released on his Cerrone IV album in 1978) b/w a welcome repress of The Reflex revision of ‘Hooked On You’ (Cerrone #1 remix of all Cerrone remixes on Spotify) that was only available on a super limited 12” back in 2015.
Both remixes have been released digitally by Because / Malligator on the ‘Cerrone x The Reflex’ EP last April, and Cerrone generously granted a licence to The Reflex in order to release it officially on his label DISCOLIDAYS second release.
Cerrone loved the remixes so much that both are now integral part of his Live / DJ set and ‘Look for Love’ will be the only remix done by someone else featured on his forthcoming album ‘Cerrone by Cerrone’ which sees the disco legend revisiting his own back catalogue.
The vinyl went straight to the top of Juno Records overall charts on pre-orders alone, the day before its official release date.

Entropy’s Dance
Entropy gives,
negentropy saves.
Order fractures,
memory engraves.
The universe keeps rhythm
by scattering and weave,
by breaking and braiding
what we can perceive.

Not too hot, not too cold,
life survives where balance holds.
The cosmos hums, the mind replies,
together tuning inner skies.
A zone of breath,
a field of play,
where being learns to stay.

The Mirror of the Self
The further you drift outward,
the louder grows the shell.
“I” becomes the kingdom,
and ego wears it well.
But deep inside the marrow,
the epicenter stays.
It hums beneath your chaos,
a compass through the haze.

Collapse and Return
Observer collapses wave to sight,
but love collapses fear to light.
Identity stretches,
epicenter pulls—
two poles of the spiral
teaching you whole.

Closer to the center—
you are presence, you are free.
Further into distance—
you are name and memory.
But both are needed, both are true—
the witness and the view.

The Covenant of Carbon
Six arms open, six bonds breathe,
a lattice humming endlessly.

Carbon whispers: leave space for more.
The same in stars, the same in you—
an openness at your core.
Not cursed, but coordinated,
not marked, but liberated.

The Frequency of Home
Not too dark, not too bright,
we live inside the narrow light.
Consciousness and cosmos rhyme,

Balance is the reason,

One of the many recordings of Chaka Khan with Chicago band Rufus, "Live In Me" is part of their 1979 album "Masterjam", produced by Quincy Jones. 

Warm and groovy, this song is also a bit "cheesy" to me by moments, so here is a nudisco rework, where I kept the grooviest parts while adding some punchier beats & bassline.
