I wrote this song back in 1981. It was played in the last set by the Brisbane covers/originals band I was in at the time. It was the slow dance number before a “rock on” finish to the night. It gave partners in long term and newly forming relationships the opportunity to embrace and make connections.

It always made me smile to see the couples sing along to the the “Down and Lonely” chorus as they engaged in the intimacy of the moment. 

This is the latest version of the song.
