DJ Moneyshot is up next holding class again. His latest mix, 'Heavenly Sunday Social at The Albany', is a tribute to the Chemical Brothers' legendary DJ residency at The Albany pub in London. Back in 1994 they were known as the Dust Brothers, and spun an emotional mix of rare Soul, classic Hip-Hop, Acid House and Psych Rock. Not to mention test pressings of their latest Dance/Indie crossover remixes, and fledgling original productions. Moneyshot has scoured discogs, sample-spotted, and dug-up magazines from back-in-the-day to get the inside scoop on the magic of this pre-Big Beat melting pot. The Trip

The mix varies from slow stoner-psych to fast & furious B-Boy breaks and features tracks from Brazil, Yugoslavia, Russia, Japan, Turkey, Poland, Africa, India, Switzerland, Greece, Jamaica, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Uruguay, UK and USA.

Solid Steel in association with Serato (31st August) 3 years ago Solid Steel DJs Cheeba, Moneyshot and Food had the idea of collaborating on a version of the Beastie Boys‘ ‘Paul’s Boutique’ album made entirely from the original sample sources, shortly after Moneyshot aired his mix of their ‘Check Your Head’ album in the same way. 

Finally the result is here, titled ‘Caught In The Middle Of A 3-Way Mix’ - each of them have taken a third of the album to work on and combined their efforts into a mix that will make you hear it in a new way. Aside from the original sample sources they’ve included commentary from the Beasties, vintage interviews, demo versions and much more.

The mix was over half way completed when they heard the tragic news of MCA‘s death in May so the impetus to finish it was instantly doubled and new meaning given to the project. It goes without saying that this is also a tribute to Adam Yauch and the legacy he left behind and we hope it will be embraced by Beastie fans around the globe.

Solid Steel Radio Show 31/8/2012 Part 1 + 2 - DJ Cheeba + DJ Moneyshot + DJ Food

Back in the late 90's we were touring in N. America and Japan a lot and mixtapes were a small, cheap piece of merchandise to sell at shows so I put this collection together. Using scraps of turntable jams from Stealth, Solid Steel and various other gigs we'd been recording over the preceding years as well as answerphone messages and other miscellanea, this ramshackle collection resulted.
It's all live, virtually all improvised, there are mistakes, needle skips, sloppy scratches and bad sound quality (sound sources were from cassette or portable DAT generally). There were possibly around 500 copies made but I only had one myself. The audio for this rip was taken from the master DAT though and EQ'd and balanced in places to make it a nicer listen. The cover image of a John Coltrane painting was taken in Tortoise's kitchen in Chicago, one Sunday on a day off when PC and I were there with Bundy K Brown, hence the title.Sunday At Bundy's - DJ Food's Audio Scrapbook (side A.)
