From the upcoming "Andean Midi Dub" EP of RBR's co-founder @da-iguana
The french reptile delivers a 3-tracks EP (out 2nd of March), going out of his comfort zone to present a different side of his inspiration. Usually going into details and organic textures, this time he went for a raw and electronic approach to get a more ravey sound, without leaving aside his taste for "structured destructuration", quirky samples, cheeky elements and mixing together different music styles.

"Ponies In The Sky" is a collaboration with Sāgarā, relating to a fictional shrooms bad trip in which the character describes her sensations & impressions. The song is really evolving, changing tempo, with a psychedelic intro, pop/reggaeton sung part, and deep dubstep 2nd part.

"AVEN" is the new EP of the artist Jean Dasso aka ORSSO, also known under his former producer's name Yeahman. This opus (to be released at the end of 2022 on UK label Earthly Measures) presents a more club-like facet, sounds that aim to cross dancefloors, through travel and trance. We can’t talk about ORSSO’s music without talking about colors, a disparate cohesion, an immensely textured journey, and it would be an illuminating one.

On this new EP of four tracks, we recognize the sound range of the multi-instrumentalist, a very true sensibility for dreamy and adventurous melodies, even if he has, for the occasion, swapped his guitars for synthesizers, percussions and sharp drum machines.

Orsso draws a landscape filled with a new energy. Jean's vision is palpable, softening some of those annoying rules and borders in electronic music. It's colorful on all counts, but also finding back his Global Bass Music influences. The rhythms intermingle, transcend the borders, and we discover with surprise dancehall and breakbeat facets ("Almadies"; "Curruca"), modular soarings ("White Lichen"), or a delicious dub ride ("Plateforme"). A journey through many soundscapes, an excuse to wander elsewhere

There is also this strand running though it all, non-tangible, that makes us all feel very reassured. The party is never far, it depends on whether you arrive before, during or after.

Earthly Measures, a young and promising English label, has set its sights on this EP, to be discovered December 9, 2022.

Continuing to push his sound into new realms through experimentation with different influences, Joaquin Cornejo returns to Earthly Measures with his first vinyl release. The ‘Las Frutas’ EP contains 6 genre-bending, tempo-shifting tracks that form to create a mesmerising blend of footwork, dub, Latin & African percussion.

‘Las Frutas’ explores a collaboration with both the Spanish singer Alex Serra and British DJ and trumpet player DJ Swordfish. It’s constructed by a warped and pitched down drum break that has been slowly surrounded by subby kicks, toms and dub chords that echo through tape delays, giving it a wonderfully spaced out atmosphere that provides the perfect backdrop for the soothing vocals and brass instruments.

‘Spatial Request’ sees a shift in tempo as Joaquin once again blends elements of Dub but this time with the driving Dominican rhythm Merengue. The result is a track that is very much fuel for the mind and body as the vibey atmosphere and percussive focus helps to keep the track moving with bouncy momentum.

Effortlessly combining music from his home country with the Dub theme that has been apparent throughout, ‘Dub en 3’ is a percussion jam from Ecuadorian percussion duo Consulado del Ritmo, where African triplet rhythms crossover with strong dub techno stabs and a Dub MC sample echoes in and out creating a effective blend of tribal and dubby elements.

‘Eso’ sees the return of the percussive wizardry of Consulado del Ritmo but this time in collaboration with the Venezuelan singer Gotopo. A relentless amalgamation of 160bpm djembe grooves, solid 808 kick drums, deep and sultry vocals and synth stabs feed-backing on tape create a driving blend of African percussion and footwork with a subtle touch of dub techno.

Perhaps the darkest track on the record, ‘Shadow’ is a collaboration with the English singer-songwriter Wabi Sabi aka Anna Bailey. Exploring a deep fusion of footwork, dubstep and dub techno alongside strong tape delay and Wabi Sabi’s hauntingly beautiful vocals, it glides experimentally through the shadows of the previous track.

‘Las Frutas’ Vapor Mix’ is a distant dreamy take on the original where the vocals ebb and flow throughout creating an otherworldly ambience. This piece is made up of elements from the other tracks, pitched down or up on tape and layered in a tempo-independent way, producing the perfect ambient ending to the journey.

Jean Dasso (Orsso / Yeahman) began his artistical career with a clear desire to gather different sounds and rhythms from all around the world.  If his first EP “Transborda” (Frente Bolivarista, 2017) was more focus on latin-american vibes, he launches the next year a single that will lead him to a bigger audience. “Miniyamba” (Shika Shika, 2018) performed with Mina Shankha and Hajna, quickly reaches millions of streams and interest from national radio broadcasts, propelling him to a next level. He's now identified as one of the the spearheads of this global-electronic scene, alongside artists as Nicola Cruz, Chancha Via Circuito or El Buho. Reason why he went to present his work on many stages and festivals around the world, in diverse areas such as Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, USA, Canada and of course Europe where he lives.

In 2021, he released Ostriconi, his first Long Play album. Fruit of intense years of recordings and composing new tracks, in Toulouse, Dakar, Napoli, Marseille. This album is  powered by the New-York based label Wonderwheel Recordings.
