Respect, humility, perseverance, self-control, honesty. Those five qualities embodied the student creed I was taught when I started martial arts at 7 years old. It has been ingrained in my head ever since then. As of recently I've been feeling quite nostalgic of those martial arts days. I remember thinking that I was born to be a "fighter, not a lover" - being born as my mom said, a "miracle" baby, because it was lucky that I survived birth. I grew up having respiratory issues and felt like I was always getting sick at school. I remember having to stay inside during spring recess, because my allergies were that bad. Fast forward to college, I ended up spending six years, struggling academically while at the same time feeling like I didn't have any friends. I avoided social gatherings not only because I was shy, but because I didn't want to get involved with the peer pressures of drugs, drinking and partying. I spent most of my time alone in my dorm room - only leaving to either go to class or get something to eat. Fast forward to today, I feel like I have made it to the top of the mountain. Seeing all the struggles finally seeming to pay off. I enjoy the career I have and the colleagues and friends that I work with. As with everything, too much of something is not good. As of recently, I'm feeling the need to get back into shape. And to keep me accountable for my words I've made the decision to make this post. My intention starting memorial weekend is a transition to get back into shape while also slowing down my pace with my music to a healthier medium. With that said, I wanted to share one more track to represent that transition. It is a new take on my recent release, "Gem". I imagined a scene where the main character understands the gravity of a grave situation and is preparing for a final battle while simultaneously having flashbacks of the past. The vibe of the track amps me up and makes me want to get back into my workout routine and do some shadow boxing - as I did when I was younger.
