Bringing some vintage heat to the VA, LA-based 1morning drops “Like a Funk Machine”. As the name suggests, this one leans into classic funk elements: organs, piano, shakers, and quirky synth chops riding a driving, crunchy low end. It sounds and feels old-school for a reason.

A genre-blurring electroish cut that seamlessly shifts between breakbeat sections and pounding 4-to-the-floor passages. The thumping kick cuts through with force, yet retains the energy of the breakbeat groove - especially accentuated by a prominent tom that plays against the beat, creating a highly danceable rhythm. Sharp, classic drums snap with precision, while atmospheric dud-chords and playful ARPs echo through the stereo field, adding depth and tension to the name-giving track “No Fool Love”.
