What a pleasure to play for so many people and help get them into the desert vibe while they patiently waited in the queue. Loved this set and had so much fun welcoming all you fellow burners!

On Wednesday night at Afrikaburn, after searching the desert for the legendary Dung Beetle for several hours, all of the pent up energy was released in front of the mushroom forest (and on the mutant vehicle for 2 incredible dancers) to this set. I give you, acid house, with an indie twist.

This year at AfrikaBurn my favourite dance floor was created by Ubuhlanti, a community powered by upcoming regional talent. The little village combined with the insanely good sound system and impressive light show created this perfect cocoon of a dance floor.

So it was really a privilege to hook up our Flying Dutchman to that stage on Friday night of the burn and provide it with my music. The energy was electrifying, the crowd never seemed to stop pulsating as one big organism. Playing there that night was truly my highlight of AfrikaBurn 2023.

Carissa Meiring, otherwise known as AURIS, is a South African deep and progressive house DJ currently residing in Cape Town.
She began her DJ journey in 1996 and broke away to build a formal career and grow her family.  In March 2022, Auris pivoted her sets to new heights, crafting mixes to focus on more creamy seamless productions, which shape healing journeys for her listeners.
