@thePhilosophica are a talented trio coming from different fields and backgrounds — an Argentinian based in Berlin, a French back on his continent after living in Colombia, and an Egyptian-New Yorker in Amsterdam — they converged into a musical trifinium.

We're proud to present there wonderful edit of Egyptian 70's singer and star of Shaabi music.

In their own words;

'There are melodies which possess an inexplicable power to transcend barriers and touch the deepest recesses of our souls. Ahmed Adaweya’s “Bent el Soltan” is a poignant ballad which explores the melancholy of lost love and stands as a testament to this universal truth. Rooted in the heartache of separation, the original track resonates with emotions that many have experienced – the raw, unfiltered pain of bidding farewell to a cherished lover or a loved one.

Our connection with “Bent el Soltan” goes far beyond musical admiration; it collides with some of the most dramatic events of our own lives. Recently, we mourned the loss of a dear friend, for whom this song held a special place. It was more than a melody to him; it was a symphony of memories, home away from home. Inspired by the passion and the profound emotions encapsulated in the original song, we embarked on a transformative creative journey to say goodbye in our own personal way to this friend that no tears can replace.

Ahmed Adaweya, the revered voice of the Egyptian masses, represents the heartbeat of the working class, echoing their struggles and joys through his music. Embracing this powerful cultural context, we set out with a vision – to elevate “Bent el Soltan” beyond its traditional boundaries and introduce it to the vibrant, pulsating world of the global club scene. Living up to its name: this mix goes just about everywhere and does just about everything. These days, I’m feeling a little calmer and more of a creature of (new) habit(s). So I wanted to give y’all one last chaotic treat for a while before approaching mixes with a more focused approach in terms of genre later throughout 2024 🫂

2023 felt like three separate years. First Europe tour, first time scoring a documentary, shows around the country, heartbreak, a new kind of love, new friendships, losing all my music, & a life changing medical procedure. Many times it felt back to back life altering events- with “keep going” written down in my journal for about every month. This mix is a lil taste of that spiral.

DJ $ustancia really turned up the heat with her latest DJ set! 😈 The talented singer and DJ served up an hour of hard dance vibes, taking us through all the Latin club flavors, with special focus on Neoperreo and Reggaeton ⭐️ sealing the collaboration with Angels Gun Club that began last year with her single for PERREOTEK 2 and the DIABLA EP (singed by their artistic duo STRIPCLAB and produced by Manu Calmet). She recently dropped two new singles that shouldn’t be slept on: “Te vi con el” featuring Sinaka and “Te Toko me Toka” with the devoted Sassyggirl and Manu Calmet and today, she’s set to grace the stage at the legendary Loolapalooza Argentina ❤️ where she’ll undoubtedly bring the house down with her vibrant energy. DJ Sustancia is a rare gem that should be reckoned worldwide. Keep slaying, Queen!
