In the wake of releases from Hollow Legs, parjo01 and Woozee’s massive ‘Fine Without You’ that garnered support from the likes of Shadow Child, Roska, Todd Edwards and Kry Wolf, Club Soda continue on form with the next in line coming from London’s favourite bass-hybrid trio Funkystepz. 

Former Rinse FM residents, owners of the extolled Forever Live Young imprint and with previous releases on Hyperdub, Funkystepz have consistently rolled out the sort of cross-genre floor fillers that lend themselves perfectly to Club Soda and their latest offering is no exception. 

Title track ‘Special Delivery’ kicks off the EP with infectious, glacial vocals set floating atop a sharp and pacy groove. Synth-swapping bass patterns hustle under chopped up vocals before ‘Moruga Reloaded’ drives a tight, syncopated groove through a climbing sequence and sultry whispered vocal snippets. 

‘Flexin’ then unfolds behind brash drums and murky pads before a darting synth pattern shoots in to rapturous effect capping off a package melding Bass, Garage and House in exemplary fashion - another fine addition to the Club Soda series. 

Early support from Jamie George, Richy Ahmed, Distro, Justin Martin, Roska, Spoony and OL amongst others.
