DJ DEADNAME is an Eno (Durham/Carrboro, North Carolina)-based DJ interested in dance music as a community-building ritual practice. They avoid genre constriction, but are driven by rhythmic texture and specifically drawn to breakbeats, electro, ambient techno, and de/reconstructed club. They are a founding member of dance music collective PERMISSION, and have been a radio DJ at WXYC Chapel Hill 89.3FM since 2020.

Self-titled debut heralds new collaborative project as Laurel Uziell, AKA Tooth Rust, and Georgie McVicar link up on @alien-jams. 

Christened Egg Meat, shadowy menace and end-of-days melancholy pervade the duo’s impending release. Expect textural incursions on the genre-defying territory between vocal experimentation, bass mutation and techno abstraction; mournful, desolate and prophetic all at once.  

As is the case across all 5 tracks, our premiere bears a spoken spoken word contribution from UK poet Danny Hayward. It’s fraught with a pervasive sense of foreboding, Egg Meat’s low-end pressure the portent of some cataclysm on the horizon.

'Egg Meat' is out November 18th on Alien Jams.
