when I arranged this flip I started by taking out all the bits of extra chaos that made me feel overstimulated
Then I simmered it in a sexy pot with juicy delicious bass lines from Of the Trees - Owl Song, and then chopped it up and stirred with tender loving care, a few easter eggs, and a smol tribute to my recently lost but never forgotten fur daughter, Gnocchi.

Wrote this song for one of my best and truest friends on his birthday last year. Today it is his 64th Birthday ewxactly one year later and I pushed myself to finally release some of the original music I have been writing and recording, for him. I want him to be able to listen to this in moments of saddness, moments of celebration, and anytime he needs to remember what a special human he is, and how important he is to me and the world and his community. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUIS!!!!

Today marks one year since Gnocchi's disappearance. She was the little light of our lives. I walked the streets day and night until my toes bled in my shoes, and then kept walking, searching, calling for her, and eventually singing. I sang many songs hoping she would maybe recognize my voice calling her name to familiar melodies from home. But I always wanted her to have a song all of her own. To honour such a unique spirit, she needed a unique melody, and not just a series of covers using meows and I love you's mixed with her name, sang between falling tears. 
My hopes in releasing this song is that it will bring some closure for all those who loved her and showed up with support and joined our search through the streets, knocking on doors, climbing fences and trees, crawling through bushes, and walking through the rain holding onto hope day after day for months.
 I'm still going for walks and taking down posters because the astronomical amount of her photos with my phone number plastered around us for miles are so vast that I still get calls to this day when I least expect it from angels in our community trying to help reunite us with our daughter. Their kindness is a silver lining, and a painful reminder of such tragic loss. 
I hope that this song can bring solace to anyone else grieving the loss, -or not able to grieve and just always looking out of the corner of their eye hoping or mistaking every shadow, garbage bag, or tshirt on the ground for a split second, for their little fluffy heart walking around outside their body. 
Its been a hard year, and I hope you can feel the love in this music that it may bless you in the way only something so miraculous and yet so painful can. 
So here is something beautiful, hopeful, playful, and strong, just like our baby Gnocchi. Who blessed us with her loving purr, gave us a reason to smile through hard times, and a reason to wake up in the morning to feed her- because her loud and proud meows demanded it and we couldn't even be mad at a creature so wild and true and just mind explodingly adorable.
