this is my friend noel, aka alejandro marenco.
from the dancefloor to the record store, our friendship came to be through music. 

we both share the same love and appreciation for all those swung sounds heavy in bass and percussion. working at the same record shop, we would freak out about records; more often than not we are by the speaker at the same parties; we've shared the booth together; and each set of noel's i have seen has been absolutely the vibe. one of my favorite chicago DJs, to be honest, so i'm excited to share this mix of his with you. 

if you're noel's friend, he will big you up. and that's what raving is really all about. he truly supports the endeavours of his friends whether it's sharing mixes, showing up at the party, or spreading the word about his friends' achievements.

this friendship mix is literally all tracks made by his friends ~ some of them mutual so i’m over here like look at this! 🥹

this is my friend cay.
they are such an important person to me for so many reasons. 

this mix is a live recording of us playing back2back during Daisychain 5 Years of Rave celebration party at JAMS in madison, wisconsin during their visit to the midwest from PDX. 
prior to that weekend, we had only hung out one time, briefly, in person many years ago in detroit. but we stayed in touch with texts and phone calls. we would text in japanese sometimes. we would talk about gender. we'd open up about life and the joys and the sorrows of it all. we'd air our grievances about "the scene" and how we want to, and are trying, to make it a better place. we would share music and talk about RAVING.
this recording captures such a special weekend during their visit. and i just knew our b2b chemistry would be symbiotic and beautiful, but it was still pretty amazing to hear it for ourselves. it was like we were doing a science experiment in the lab!

cay is a friend who is supportive and emotional. they truly embrace the inner-beauty of it all, and if you are their friend, you know just how special it is to have a tender moment with cay.

This recording is from my opening set at the Libra Love party during the October Walking & Falling workshop week in Chicago. Walking & Falling is a DJ mentorship program geared to teach female-identifying and nonbinary folks. It encourages learning and growing from mistakes. I began learning to DJ in March as a mentee during the first workshop, so this set is the second time I have ever played out. Reflecting perfectly the mission of the program, it's a raw beginner set that is a pure representation of myself in time, learning as I go along.

With an unknowing fever under the disco ball in the red room of Robinia Courtyard, recorded live for December's edition of JAMS in Madison, Wisconsin. That night $555 was raised to donate to GSAFE, a Madison-based organization that "envisions school communities where all LGBTQ youth and students thrive."

what feels like a lifetime ago, straight from the Club Bubble 1 headquarters on May 25, 2020 ~ my set for virtual Industry Brunch. what would have been the rave family gathering under the acid soaked sun in Detroit, with quarantine in full effect Industry Brunch instead took to the world wide web.  NBFC love was strong in the chat for a day of amazing music from some of the loveliest people i have ever come to know ~ my rave family (Sassmouth, Acid Daddy b2b Dana, Pat Bosman, Christina Chatfield, Shawn Rudiman, Titonton Duvante, ViiV, Clinker)
