A 3hr mix of amazing Framwewerk rewerks, remixes and new tunes!

I’ve been a big fan of Framewerk for a good few years now and they have featured regularly in my mixes and livestreams. Over the past few weeks they’ve dropped an unbelievable amount of music on Bandcamp, mostly remixes and mostly available for next to nothing. From amazing chilled reworks of classics, an album of Depeche Mode covers as well as a constant stream of regular releases.

I’ve refined the literally hundreds of tracks I’ve acquired over the last month or so down to my absolute favourites and put them together into a monster set which is the first recording on my lovely new Pioneer decks - which is only fitting I think!

Along with 23 of their best are a few tracks that just sit so well - including 4 Lost Astronaut tunes from their stunning 2024 album and an achingly beautiful Banco remix.

Starts really really chilled and builds up nicely :-)

Framewerked

It’s the middle of the dark midwinter so time for another 3 hour Frozen North mix - designed to make it through the long dark winters drive to Scotland without needing to change the music or ending up driving at 100mph!

This is a collection of tunes I’ve been playing around with at home, mostly from the last part of 2024 with a few classics thrown in for good measure. Mainly progressive house, but some floaty melodic breaks, techno & electronica.

Along with the obligatory homage to the genius of Kamilo Sanclamente, there’s some Framewerk tracks that didn’t make it into the last mix - including an amazing Massive Attack rewerk, plus the Dirty Mix of Dirty Epic by Underworld - which covers off 2 of the best gigs of the year…..Underworld at the Gashauder in Amsterdam and Massive Attack in Liverpool. Both epic. Here’s to more fun in 2025!

NYE Set for The Hatch Radio

Last week saw the launch of a new livestream project - Born Trippy - with my good friends Templehead and Papadamour featuring a guest mix from John Paynter, a Leeds legend from Paisley Dark records.

It was a fun night with over 250 people tuning in over the night on the Mixcloud stream. This was my 10-11pm set, although not the actual live version due to some technical cock up which meant there was 2 minutes of silence in the middle…..plus I was using Templehead’s CDJs so it wasn’t the tightest set I’ve ever done……however, the practice recording is great so I thought I’d release that instead.

Born Trippy #1

The second Born Trippy Livestream featured the amazing Arwen Varda as our special guest and this time I had the opening and closing sets, which meant a reasonable amount of restraint was required and no to just open a bottle of wine during the last tune!

I love doing opening sets, there’s nothing to follow and you can set the tone for the evening, which, in honour to Arwen, had a decidedly techno flavour :-)

This set starts with more amazing Framewerkness, drops into some techno, an amazingly lovely tune from Sasha & Marsh, a downbeat version of the classic Dreams, an Amtrac tune that could be Underworld and ends with one of the standout track of the year, Robot Funk, that is a take on Brain Damage by Pink Floyd. A very Born Trippy way to start a fabulous night.

It’s been a while since I put together a breakbeat mix, so thought I’d have a play around with some of the tunes I’ve collected over the past few months. This was my 9-10pm set for the 3rd Born Trippy livestream featuring the most awesome Rob Bong as our guest. It had to start with a dub feel with the lovely downtempo remix of LSD by Hallucingen and just one of the beautiful tracks from an amazing chilled album from Benji Vaughn, then it builds up, including an utterly tripped out track from Alex O’Rion heading towards the star of the set, Bless the Maker getting a full on Framewerk treatment - so much energy in this track! From here, via a bit’o’house piano it drives into dark techno land building to the amazing Subatomic and should-be-a-classic Pig&Dan’s Where’s the DJ. Much fun was had!

Born Trippy #3

After several unsuccessful attempts to organise a birthday party this year I decided to have a virtual one instead and do a livestream. The only person who could actually attend in person was my fellow Born Trippy collaborator Mr Papadamour so I asked him to play a couple of sets. This first part of the night contains both of these with 50 mins from me in the middle. Birthday Livestream 2025 Part 1

This is the recording of the second half of the Birthday livestream. It felt natural to split the recording in 2 as the first couple of hours was muscially very different to the last 3 and a bit. My birthday was actually the day before but the 22nd is my wife’s birthday so the plan was to play all of her favourite tunes and refrain from getting too excited and getting into dark techno or filthy breaks. So this set contains many tunes by the lovely Kamilo Sanclamente, who we had the pleasure of not only seeing him playing a 3 hour set in Leeds last month, but actually got to meet him. Mainly bouncy melodic progressive house but finishes with 45 mins of amazing Framewerk breaks remixes.
