To celebrate 20 years of building Labyrinths, we have decided to release one set from each of the last ten years. I've chosen ten timeless moments that both document the history of the event and provide a historical snapshot of underground electronic music over the past ten years.

We have chosen a broad range--from closing techno sets, to morning ambient sets, to experimental sets to close the night. Each set represents a different side of the event. Taken together, they present a portrait of a decade of music.

The Labyrinthの20周年を記念して、過去10年間を振り返り、それぞれの年からひとつのミックスをピックアップすることにしました。イベントの歴史を記録すると同時に、過去10年間のアンダーグラウンドエレクトロニックミュージックの歴史的なスナップショットを提供します。今聞いても色褪せない、タイムレスな極上のミックスをお楽しみください。

テクノのクロージングセットから、朝のアンビエントセット、そして夜を締めくくるエクスペリメンタルセットまで幅広いセレクトですが、どのセットもThe Labyrinthの欠かせない側面を表しており、ここ10年におけるエレクトロニック ミュージックの全容とも言えるでしょう。

The enigmatic audio artist known as Material Object has traversed close to the entire spectrum of Electronic music in his time, from Techno to IDM through to Ambient with notable collaborations with musical luminaries including the late Pete Namlook on his Fax + 49-69/450464 label and the renowned Atom™ with their ‘No. Inc’ project as well as delivering unforgettable live performances from Berlin’s Berghain to Japan’s revered Labyrinth festival. His most recent releases ‘Colour’ and ‘Mono’ dive deep into the ultra minimalist sound of a single analog synthesizer to create high octane psychedelic paganism music, both of which have been released on the UK’s Old Technology label curated by DJ Surgeon + Dan Bean.

Deep Breakfast 313 ~ Material Object

This recording is from the first edition of L’Appuntamento, a series of open-air listening sessions initiated by Villa Lontana Records and Donato Dozzy in Rome. Each gathering pairs a vinyl set by Dozzy with a live electroacoustic performance by a new-generation artist.

In this first edition, held in the garden of Villa Lontana, Donato Dozzy opened the evening with a selection of minimal, folkloric, and acoustic-rooted records — setting the tone for Verde Prato’s live performance.

L’Appuntamento is an ongoing invitation to pause, tune in, and share time through listening.

TOKYO TECHNO SOCIETY #06

@janefitz and I really do enjoy doing our B2B sessions. There's a scant amount of planning that goes in to these other than maybe an overarching idea of what we want to start and end with, and maybe a couple Discogs links for reference points mixed in. But that is literally it. We trust each other, and we're confident we can do it, and do it damn well. As always, she's on the audiences' right, I'm on the left, and we go one-for-one the entire time. No escape!!

This recording from October of 2019 at OHM in Berlin is her and I opening the party from zero and doing six hours of tension building hypnotics. Many thanks to the @patternsofperception crew for allowing us to do this, and for letting us use the Rane 2016 even though you've never touched one before.
