We are finally walking out of the gloom and doom of January with Spring firmly in view. To give us that extra jolt and wipe off them cobwebs we have reached out to drum & bass and jungle master Tim Reaper to put a shock to our system.
Tim is without doubt one of the striving forces in pushing a new wave of drum & bass and jungle in London and beyond. Alongside other names like Sully, Kloke, Stones Taro and Coco Bryce, Tim has brought a old school sound to an entirely new generation - sounds similar to alumni like Source Direct & Commix but with a new twist. With closing out 2024 with his new album "In Full Effect" with Australian producer Kloke on Hyperdub to much critical acclaim, the name Tim Reaper has never been bigger! So with that being said we are very honoured to have him join us for our series. For Tim's mix he takes us on an hour and half deep dive that he describes as the more chilled side to D&B and Jungle - but don't be fooled this mix definitely has a bit of power behind it. We had a brief chat with Tim about the mix and what hes gotta coming up this year.

Seven and a half exhilarating hours from one of modern club's sharpest.

Tim Reaper's mammoth entry for RA.1000 is all about range. You thought the Future Retro London boss was just a jungle and hardcore head? Think again.

The mix's infinite-scroll tracklist (the longest we've ever published in full!) includes a who's who of top-rate producers, from A Guy Called Gerald and Cari Lekebusch to Batu, Mia Koden and the one and only Shackleton.

Opening with weighty grime and ending on head-spinning drum & bass, the mix journeys through US club, wobbly dubstep, classic techno and, of course, many shades of jungle. Rather than go the easy route, the Londoner approached the assignment with the curiosity, integrity and vulnerability of fellow shapeshifters like dBridge, Calibre and ASC.

"The idea was to represent other styles of electronic music that I've been a bit self-conscious about openly expressing my interest in," he told RA.

RA.1000 isn't just another side of Tim Reaper's artistry: thankfully for us, it feels like only the beginning.

The accent of the grooves shifts, and individual sounds carry all kinds of artefacts, yet everything gets folded into the exacting Untouchables sound with a liberal dubwise sensibility. Continuing to explore the realms of hardcore, our next guests for the podcast series is UK duo Local Group (LMajor & Corporeal Face). Keeping the rave spirit alive with hands-in-the-air euphoria, the mix showcases the sound they’ve forged as residents at UK festival Field Maneuvers - an 700-capacity event held at a secret location. Their residency has allowed them to play alongside friends and inspirations including Eris Drew, Violet, Photonz, 2 Bad Mice and DJ Storm. Local Group have also made contributions to the Secret Rave series, Corrupt Data’s Hardcore Will Never Die compilation and released a full EP on Ritual Poison.
