Ahoy's Mixes I 2019 👉 2023

Seit etwa 10 Jahren lebt @djahoy seine Liebe zum mixen. Inspiriert von den frühen Boiler Room Sets, began seine musikalische Reise auf einem kleinen Controller den er damals von seinem Freund bekam, mit dem er später zusammen das "Paradisco" Kollektiv gründete.
Weitere einschneidende Inspiration fand er bei seiner ersten Begegnung mit Italo Disco, welche ihm einen neuen Blick auf die Musik gaben.

Wir bedanken uns für dieses wunderschön verspielte Set, welches perfekt zu den Sonnenstrahlen passt, die uns am heutigen Tag den Frühlingsanfang einläuten. Danke Ahoy!

The idea behind the 4 mixes is to share the songs that brought me the most support, love, fun, and gratefulness in 2019.
They are more to be listened to as "Mixtapes" rather than "Sets" as the selection of the songs was made on a very emotional factor rather than a "blend together" one.

00:00 - William Pitt - City Lights (Italo Brutalo Vocal Edit)(1986) - I love the night so this song has been my anthem this year. I have the original on wax but this edit accentuates all my favorite parts in it.
06:20 - France Gall - Ella Elle L'a (Folamour Edit)(1987) - I grew up with this song and that might be the only one that Sylvie would enjoy here. Folamour bringing it to the next level. 100% French cheese and I love it.
9:10 - Vanilla - Imagination "Calypso Nights"(1985)- By far the Disco Song I listened to the most this year. I was blown away when I disco-vered it. Those chords are something made in heaven. This wonky bassline. And the rest. It's an absolute masterpiece!
13:40 - Suzy Q - Get On Up And Do It Again (Original Mix)(1981) - That Funk! I feel like I'm in "Soul Train" groovin' & kicking like never.
16:50 - Anneclaire - I Want (Remix)(1986) - Italo Disco at its finest. Top 10 of the genre for this year.
20:00 - Linda Lewis - Class-Style (I've Got It) (Groove Mix)(1984) - Classy & Groovy AF. The lyrics really have a meaning for our consumerist society. Everyone got Class.
22:50 - Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up (Cake Mix)(1987) - Oh bah là ...
26:15 - Wish Fonda Rae - Touch Me (All Night Long)(1984) - Hold me Baby, Drive me Crazy ...
29:35 - Sonny Jenkins And The New York Potpourri Strings - That Friday Pay (Part 1)(1980) - Sorry for the skipping parts :/ Only this year could I really start to appreciate this dinger. 
33:50 - Company B - Fascinated (12" Mix)(1986) - Synthy Baby. Front row, left speaker, hands in the air.
37:20 - Norma Jean Bell - I'm The Baddest Bitch (Moodymann Mix)(1996) - Re-disco-ver thanks to my B2B Partner in Crime @innercityfoliage. The song we played the most in our sets at work this year.
42:20 - Sharpe and Numan - Change Your Mind (Extended Version)(1985) - The most important song of 2019 to me. I went through the toughest moments of this year listening to this masterpiece, those bells, this message, everything is wonderful here.
45:20 - Clio - Eyes (Extended Vocal Mix)(1984) - Il y a de quoi y perdre la tête pour toi - Italo Disco for life! (I don't get why it skips after upload ...)
49:00 - Alisha - All Night Passion (Jordan Edit)(1984) - I'm a huge fan of what Alisha produced so when I bought the Nocturne Edits n°1, I was over the top. Played it for days before Summer.
