🎧 DJ Reado — Decoded Magazine Submission: “Journeys in Sound”

This mix is everything I love about house and electronic music — emotion, groove, and story.  I’m DJ Reado, born from the Liverpool–Manchester club scene — 3 Beat Records, Cream, Bowlers, the Essential Mix era. Those nights taught me that the best DJ sets are journeys: sunrise to sunset, calm to chaos, motion to meaning.

It begins in stillness — waves, vinyl hiss, the hum of life — before unfolding into deep, melodic, and cinematic house. Inspired by artists like Jasper Tygner, Floating Points, David Orin, Nōpi, Synthetra, and Model Man, this sound world blends organic warmth with modern precision — fluttery, choppy, stretched textures that feel like breath and heartbeat woven into rhythm.

I listened to over a thousand tracks, digging through Bandcamp, Rivoli, and small boutique labels to find hidden gems that feel alive — working hard to avoid commercial/known, every inclusion had to serve the story.

The journey moves from ambient introspection to melodic flow, through progressive momentum and sunlight energy, then returns to reflection. It opens by the sea and ends back at the shore — a full-circle experience of motion, memory, and meaning. Think Floating Points at dawn, Tygner’s shimmer at sunrise, Nōpi’s dreamscapes by afternoon, and Model Man’s pure human groove by evening.

Every transition was shaped for flow and feeling — chasing that moment when sound becomes storytelling. For me, DJing has always been about emotion over ego, connection over perfection. I did aim for perfection to my best ability, i hope you enjoy.

Wherever you are — eyes closed, headphones on, or driving at sunset — I hope you feel the same thing I did while making it: that beautiful sense of movement, memory, and meaning.

Decoded Magazine Mix of the Month October Submission - Tales For Adults

This is my winning entry mix for Decoded Magazine Mix of the Month October.

When I first heard Luke Sanger's track called Droplet, I simply knew I had to do something with it in an Ecstatic Dance set. I deciced to loop it and make it a constant sound in the background throughout the mix, sometimes an obvious feature, at other times subtly teasing your subconscious and tricking your brain into believing it's still there. I worked on curating this mix for about 3 months, looking for just the right songs to support the project, allowing the Droplets to "play" and interact with the other songs, and provide a journey of feeling these Droplets around you while dancing. Sometimes there are as many as 3 or 4 songs playing at the same time. Put on your headphones and let yourself go :)

South African-born Alan Heart has been crafting musical experiences for over three decades. He began DJing at 18, eventually opening for the legendary Fatboy Slim on his first South African tour and performing at prestigious events, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Now based in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand, Alan has found his rhythm in the Ecstatic Dance community. All of that was the catalyst. Had some citeonics and crappy. Borrowed belt driven drives for really poor efforts at DJing local youth clubs and occasional private parties. Kept up the music love and bedroom DJing. 

More recently enjoyed bringing the rave to fitness boot camps and the ambient soulful melodic house to Crosby Beach. Sunsets and sunny days been amazing.
