As I've gotten older it's become clear that nothing is as important as your health and your family - and not just biological family, anyone who you're fortunate enough to consider family.  I am thankful this holiday season for my girls and extended family, my trusted friends, my Chosen Few family, my SNL family, my law family, and my extended house music family. I couldn't stand the tension so I took what turned out to be a 2 and 1/2 hour music break tonight from watching the Senate election returns in Georgia.  It looks like it worked!  Glad I hit record.   AK

The Peach Mix (January 2021)

Known as a “lawyer by day, DJ by night,” Alan King is one of the early members of the legendary Chicago-based DJ crew, the Chosen Few DJs (now consisting of Alan, Wayne Williams, Jesse Saunders, Tony Hatchett, Terry Hunter, Andre Hatchett and Mike Dunn).  In the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, the Chosen Few DJs was a group of popular DJs from the city’s south side who played their unique brand of soulful dance music to huge crowds at Chicago night spots of historic importance in the birth and development of house music, including Sauer’s, First Impressions, the Playground and the Loft.  Alan’s influence on the house music landscape has been felt for more than 30 years, and he has been cited as an inspiration by countless DJs including legendary house music DJs and producers Frankie Knuckles, Steve "Silk" Hurley and Chip E.  Alan still regularly plays to rave reviews at clubs and events throughout Chicago and the U.S.  The Chosen Few DJs also host the annual Chosen Few Old School Reunion Picnic each July 4th weekend in Chicago, one of the largest and longest running house music festival events in the world!
