For the first track on the ‘Contemporary Part One’ EP on Rekids, Oliver Dollar joins forces with studio wizard ADMN, a musician, TV Lounge resident, Infolines label owner, and affiliate of Carl Craig's Planet E, among many more top labels. Their brilliant 'Before You' featuring Apropos is a soul-drenched house cut with a classic vibe and an irresistible sense of soul thanks to its smooth vocals. The warm synths light up the loose-limbed groove and ensure a good time.

Oliver Dollar and versatile Scottish producer Austin Ato then serve up 'Portamento Track' for the ‘Contemporary Part One’ EP, an uplifting house gem with serene strings adding a touch of class to the impassioned vocal and disco-tinged groove. Last but not least, Detroit mainstay and Michigander label head Brian Kage remixes Oliver Dollar's 'Strings 4 Life', a track from Dollar’s previous EP on Rekids of the same name and which won the support of Paul Woolford, Honey Dijon, Nightmares On Wax and many more. Kage turns the track into a signature slice of Motor City house soul with swooning pads and hip-swinging drums that are aged to perfection.

Berlin-based house connoisseur Oliver Dollar is known for his variety. He explores the genre via deep, soulful, and jacking cuts, constantly innovating on his signature style with plenty of underground hits produced on the likes of Defected, Classic Music, and his own Industry Standard label.

Coming as their third original single on Defected Records, the need-to-know, multi-disciplinary collective YOURS (comprised of Maverick Sabre, New Machine, Jake Hall and SOLLÉR) released ‘OUR LOVE (80’S)’ in March 2024. Another striking example of the group’s genre-defying, refined sound, the starry-eyed original now receives a remix from Defected label mate David Penn. An artist who needs little introduction to fans of the label, his signature piano-laced sound brings an added layer of club appeal to YOURS’ sparkling original. Maintaining Maverick’s unmistakable vocal, the remix drips in Penn-isms, as a bassline with buckets full of bounce, tasteful builds and of course the signature keys make this an unmissable addition to YOURS’ growing catalogue.

Being born in 1995 and having grown in a musical atmosphere thanks to his father, Alec Carlsson's love of music started when he was nine years old. He first learnt to mix, mainly techno and tech-house tracks influenced by Carl Cox' style, and graduated to producing.Then, he has been refining his technique for about five years, exploring many kinds of music and grooves.
In 2009, he signed his first ep on a UK based label and since, he keeps producing musics and remixes for the likes of Dust Traxx Records (Chicago), roXour (Patrick Alavi's label), Nocturnal Recordings, and a few other labels. His music has been widely supported, played, or mentionned by the likes of Axwell, Roger Sanchez, Louis La Roche, The Phantom's Revenge, Ridney, Jaymo, Hatiras, DJ DLG, TEPR, Justin Faust, Bit Funk, or Ghosts of Venice to name a few.

Since the inception of his live show and his exciting new style of house music, Alex Preston has become a force to be reckoned with in the world of electronic music. The Sydney-native utilises his skills as a virtuoso musician as he tastefully melds his signature guitar licks with disco tinged bass lines and warm pulsating house beats. 

2020 is proving to be Alex Preston’s breakout year with Mark Knight labelling him as one of his favourite producers and one to watch out for in the coming months. Signing with Mark’s infamous Toolroom Records, Alex was handed the responsibility of mixing and curating the Toolroom Poolside Album 2020. The release features 4 new originals from Alex with vocals from Rion S and includes his collaboration with the legendary, Friend Within. It also includes 2 DJ mixes hand picked by Alex, not only showcasing Alex’s production talents but also his skills as a tastemaker DJ. 

The run up to the end of 2019 saw Alex’s music hit a new gear as Traxsource named him their no.15 highest selling House artist for 2019; Alex sharing the top 20 with names such as David Penn, Low Steppa, Mousse T, Kevin McKay, Purple Disco Machine & Todd Terry. 

This momentum flowed into January 2020 as Friend Within played Alex’s single “Your Ragga” off his Basement Sound label on BBC Radio 1 Future Anthems; along with the Aston Shuffle spinning his track “A Very Healthy Thing” off Low Steppa’s Simma Black imprint on Triple J; all in the same weekend. 

The following week Mark Knight dropped “A Very Healthy Thing” on Toolroom Radio and hailed Alex as “a name to look out for in 2020”. Toolroom records singing Alex’s single “An Example of Disco” (featuring the vocals of Rion S) scheduling it for a worldwide release on 6 March 2020 adding it to their Miami 2020 Compilation. 

Alex also signed with Kevin McKay’s hugely successful, Glasgow Underground. With Kevin himself editing one of Alex’s more blues-influenced tracks, “Get Myself Together” (also featuring the vocals of Rion S and released on 3 April 2020). 

The rest of 2020 is looking solid for Alex with a collaboration with Siege due for release on Toolroom’s T2 Album in July, along with releases on the uber cool UK based Another Rhythm Records. Not to mention, there’s word of an album dropping on his own Basement Sound imprint in September!
