Maurice Dupont has long been one of the most respected luthiers in France and one of the first contemporary makers to specialize in producing the Selmer Maccaferri guitar. Maurice first gained recognition as a builder of classical guitars and in 1989 was bestowed with the honor of "Best French Craftsman." Maurice was an apprentice of the legendary Gypsy guitar maker Jacques Favino, and in 1986 he began building his own Selmer style guitars which quickly became the most popular choice of professional Gypsy guitarists. Countless Gypsy stars including Raphael Fays, Biréli Lagrène, Tchavolo Schmitt, and Romane have played Dupont guitars which appear on hundreds of recordings.

Altamira guitars are crafted by a highly skilled team luthiers, led by owner/luthier Hanson Yao who was an apprentice of the famed Rodriguez workshop in Spain. Altamira Favino

This is it, the guitar that started it all! Vintage Selmer guitars have been studied for decades by the best luthiers in the world, but one has yet to create a guitar with the tonal refinement and projection of a vintage one such as this. Only the perfect mix of old world luthiery, select woods, and over seventy years of age can yield the astounding tone and projection that this instrument posses.

This example, which is near perfect original condition, was owned for many decades by Gypsy jazz legend Fapy Lafterin.
This one is really a dream come true as it has everything you could ever want in a vintage Selmer: Pristine condition, outstanding tone and projection, ulrra-rare Brazilian back and sides, and the easy playability you'd expect of a contemporary instrument. 1947 was arguably the high point of Selmer's guitar production as instruments from this period are known for their near perfect balance of tone, projection, and stability. Some of Django's best sounding acoustic recordings where from the Rome sessions which were done with a 1947 Selmer (#704.) This guitar exemplifies all of those qualities as it's tone is sublime an it's projection thunderous.

This is the best preserved Selmer guitar I've ever seen! The condition is simply breathtaking, with only a few sings of wear. The hardware is all original and in excellent condition. There are a few scratches and a bit of finish has rubbed off behind the treble moustache piece (possibly from the use of an Stimer ST51 control box.) There is one top crack on the bass side lowerbout. It has been cleated and is stable. The are some small, inconsequential indentations along the back of the neck as well as some moderate fretwear.

As you would expect, the tone of this instrument is simply sublime! It has a near perfect balance of mids and treble, allowing it to produce rich, luscious chords and clear, penetrating single note lines. Moreover, it has an ineffable character that is mature, exotic, and powerful; qualities one only finds in the very best vintage instruments. I should also mention that it is nothing short of a note cannon, with the sort of projection that boggles the mind! It's no wonder Fapy kept this one for so long (he owned several dozen Selmers during his career, and this is among the very best.)

This is a wonderful opportunity to own a Selmer "celebrity" guitar that is exemplary in both its condition and sound. A once in a decade, perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity!

1947 Selmer Petite Bouche #651

This fantastic instrument was built sometime in the 1960s by Jacques Castelluccia. Castelluccia was one of the many famous Italian luthiers to make his name in France (along with Busato, DiMauro, Favino, Anastasio, Maccaferri, etc.) Castelluccia is the oldest continuously running shop in Paris, still producing guitars under the direction of Jacques Castelluccia's son, Jean-Baptiste.

While the price of guitars made by Busato (along with other Italian makers such as Favino and Maccaferri) have skyrocketed in recent years, Castelluccia's have been largely overlooked. But after playing this guitar, I think anyone would agree that Castelluccia was also capable of building guitars on par with his more famous contemporaries.

This instrument features Selmer like dimensions: 675mm scale, a 16" body, and 3 10/16" deep. Castelluccia's ultra lightweight three brace design weighs in at only 3.8 lbs, among the lightest guitars I've ever had in the shop. The back and sides are Cuban mahogany, the top is spruce, and the neck is mahogany.

The condition of this instrument is very good! There are no serious cracks or major modifications. The frets were replaced and have very little wear. Hardware includes a set of gold Schaller Classic Deluxe tuners and a nickel DR tailpiece. It's an easy player, with comfortable 2.6mm action.

As is often the case with Castelluccias from this era, there is a Symphonia label. The Symphonia retail shop frequently commissioned guitars from Jacques Castellucia.

This instrument has a powerful voice, producing the sort of volume few guitars can match. It's the ultimate campfire guitar as it's powerful single note lines will cut through just about anything. If you need an amp free solution for busking or jamming, this is it! The tone is full of the old world character and mojo that only decades of smokey French bar gigs can yield.

This model was made famous by Dorado Schmitt who played a similar Castelluccia in the Bireli Lagrene Live Jazz a Vienne  DVD.

1960s Jacques Castelluccia

A guitar of this stature needs no introduction. Next to Selmers, Busatos are the most sought after guitars by today's top players. 
So what makes a Busato so great? Generally speaking, it simply out performs other guitars in almost every way. First off, they are positively the loudest guitars ever made! I've compared Busatos to numerous classic Gypsy guitars such as Jacques Favinos and Selmers as well as new guitars by J.P. Favino, Dupont, ALD, and Dell Arte. A good Favino is pretty loud...but the Busato is just a cannon. A vintage Selmer is actually quite timid by comparison. The Busato has three tonal elements which really make it cut in acoustic settings. 1) It is extremely dry. It has little or no natural wetness (reverb.) This makes the guitar much more focused and is therefore much easier to hear in a loud jam setting. 2) The tone is very pure with very simple overtones. The fundamental pitch of single notes are very strong while the overtones are extremely clean and even. Very flute like in character. A Selmer sounds more complex, but is also somewhat "messier" sounding which dampens projection. 3) It responds to the slightest touch. Just barely strike the strings and you get a lightening fast bolt of sound. I really like this because you don't have to play these guitars hard to be loud. Busatos yield an exceedingly wide frequency response. They have a crisp, bright high end which gives your leads some sparkle and adds ambiance and clarity to rhythm work. There's not much mids, except for a slight upper midrange nasalness. But nothing like a Favino in that regard. Like a Favino, there is far more low end than a Selmer, and it's an incredibly tight, clear low end. Not mushy or ill defined in anyway. The tight low end of a Busato mixed with it's dry character really make it excel for rhythm playing. It's just so clear. The high end cracks like a whip and the bass notes are like a kick in the gut. The dimensions of Busatos are fairly close to that of Favinos. Body is 16 1/4" across the lower bout (Selmer is 15 3/4", Favino is 16 1/2".) Busatos are also the curviest Gypsy guitars out there. The bombé (top arch) is the most pronounced I've ever seen on a Selmer type guitar. It's like a huge bubble under the bridge. The back is also beautifully arched.

This guitar has walnut back and sides, a spruce top, and a three piece mahogany neck with an ebony spline in the middle. This guitar has the original BB tuners and tailpiece which are in excellent condition. As you often see with Busato's, this instrument has a 4 piece top, so the "cracks" you see in the top are actually just seams. There are no actual top cracks, and generally the instrument is in very good condition. There appears to have been a pickguard at one point but no there is just some discoloration to the wood in that area, There is an unusual metal plate screwed into the back, close to the tailpiece. Perhaps it was for a pickup of some sort? Otherwise, the instrument is quite clean and plays very nicely. There is some light fretwear.

It should be noted that there were many, many Busato models. Many of which seem to be experiments. This model, which is often referred to as the "Grand Modèle" (oval hole, 14 fret neck), is the one preferred by the pros like Stochelo, Romane, Moreno, etc. Busato's catalog lists this model as item #44.

This guitar is the archetypal Busato, with a bold, clear tone that knocks every note to the back of the hall. The highs sizzle and the lows thump loudly, giving it a character and charm that evokes the Gypsy jams of yore. It is especially well suited to players with a light touch, as it takes very little force to make yourself heard. In fact, it's so loud it seems to defy the laws of physics! No doubt, this outstanding Busato will be the treasure of a lifetime for some lucky owner. You just don't find ones this good very often....

1940s Busato Modele #44

Shelley Park needs no introduction. Over the past decade she has earned a reputation as one of the top makers of Selmer style guitars. Her guitars are known for their impeccable workmanship, aesthetic beauty, and warm satisfying tone. This guitar is no exception.

This Montmartre model features Favino specs: 670mm scale, 16 1/2" lower bout, and a 3 5/8" body depth. The top is cedar and the back and sides are made of solid Europeam walnut. The three piece neck is maple with a walnut spline.

This guitar is outfitted with a set of Schaller three on a plate tuners and a DR tailpiece.

This slightly used example is in excellent condition. It has some mild pickwear on the top and some very light fretwear, but is otherwise very clean.

Modeled after Jacques Favinos classic design, this instrument shares many of the desirable characteristics associated with those famous vintage models. Very powerful, this instrument projects wonderfully with clear, sizzling leads and big, pianistic sounding chords. The large body produces more bass than a typical Selmer, but is not overwhelming or muddy. Most notably, the instrument is not overly nasal which is common with Favinos, giving it a more modern sound that works well with both traditional Gypsy playing as well as more contemporary hybrid styles

2019 Park Montmartre

At long last, the original Stimer pickup is now available! This pickup is a reissue of the original design by Yves Guen. Yves' son, Christian, is now producing these wonderful pickups which adhere completely to the original design. They yield the same classic sound that Django and so many other great Gypsy players made famous. Christian did update the mounting system which utilizes an noninvasive magnetic clip which allows you to easily remove the pickup if need be.

With over twenty years of experience, there's no doubt that Jean Louis Alves de puga is one of the most knowledgeable and skilled luthiers that specializes in building Selmer Maccaferri guitars. This exquisite example of his work was entirely handmade by Jean Louis at his workshop in the south-western French town of Puyoô. A Selmer copy, this guitar has specs that are nearly identical to the original Selmer guitars that were played by Django Reinhardt. The scale length is 670mm and the body is 15 3/4" wide. The top is made of European spruce, the neck is walnut, and the fingerboard is ebony. The most outstanding feature of this instrument is the breathtakingly beautiful cocobollo back sides which are highly figured perfectly bookmatched. The tailpiece is nickel and the tuners are a set of Schaller Classic Deluxe, which are also nickel.

The tone of this instrument is very reminiscent of the warmer, darker, pre-war Selmers that Django favored. The high end is very rounded and thick while the midrange is prominent yet complex. Overall, it produces a very "buttery" sound that lacks the harshness found in more aggressive sounding guitars. It projects very nicely and can be played quite hard without getting too buzzy or brash.

Priced at only $3200, this is easily the best deal in the shop! A French made guitar with this quality materials and workmanship would normally be almost double this price. This slightly used example is in excellent condition, with the only signs of use being just a few faint scratches on the body. 2012 Park Montmartre

This 2002 Gitano de Luxe hole by Stefan Hahl represents the ultimate in contemporary Selmer guitar design. Most builders today obsessively try to replicate the design and building techniques of "golden era" guitars like the original Selmers, Busatos, and later Favinos. Hahl has dared to be different by using the Selmer design, which he has studied extensively, as a starting point for something new and unique. His guitars characteristically combine the complexity, warmth, and listenability of archtops and flatops with the punch and clarity of Selmers. The real genius of his work is that he has succeeded in making a contemporary, sophisticated sounding Gypsy guitar without loosing the essence of the Selmer sound. Others have tried to make such a guitar, but the end result is that warmth and complexity are traded for clarity and punch, which results in a very muted and dull sounding guitar. Not so with Hahl. His guitars produce notes with a rounded, satisfying tone that still retain enough cutting power to be easily heard in even the most challenging acoustic environments.

Hahl's work has been well received by the very finest Gypsy guitarists today. Most notably, by Bireli Lagrene who owns three Hahl guitars and has used them on most of his recent recordings. check out: Move, Just the Way You Are, To Bi or Not to Bi, and Live in Paris.

Gypsy legends Stochelo Rosenberg, Dorado Schmitt and Hono Winterstein also play Hahl guitars.

As with any Hahl, playability is closer to the super smooth feel of an archtop than the more cumbersome action you'd expect from a Selmer style guitar. At only 2.8mm action, this guitar will allow you to play things that can rarely be executed on a Gypsy guitar.

This instrument features some of the very best woods available: stunning flamed maple back and sides, a five piece flamed maple neck with walnut splines, ebony binding, and a 70 year aged spruce top. This guitar has been fitted with a Hahl brass tailpiece and a set of Schaller three on a plate tuners. A Gullansky pickup is wired to the endpin jack.

Few luthiers can build a D hole guitar that achieves the proper balance between treble and bass. So often, D holes are too dark and bass heavy. Hahl is the rare luthier who can build a guitar that has the rich, full sound of the D soundhole while still retaining enough bite for leads. This example is exceptional in it's ability to produce HUGE sounding chords one minute and crisp leads the next. The leads truly sing which makes it so easy when playing in a group setting. Just touch the pick to the string and the notes fly out almost effortlessly.

One aspect I find particularly intriguing about Hahl's guitars is that they have a somewhat "open" tone in that there is a touch of natural reverb to the sound. Many guitars have this, but usually it is too much and creates the overtone ringing and muddiness that is the sign of a poorly made guitar. But when you have just enough it adds a lot of complexity and interest to the tone. Hahl's guitars have this "open" character in just the right amount. If you are turned off by some of the more traditional, "dry" sounding guitars then you'll be pleasantly surprised by this guitar which is definitely something different.

This instrument is in very good condition with just a number of dings and scratches on the body and one area in the pickguard area which has some finish discoloration. The frets were recently dressed so they are free of any ruts or snags.

This is one of the very rare model #45 Busatos which was the the fancier, more ornate model in Busato's catalog. The rhinestone studded headstock is one-of-a-kind.

This guitar has Brazilian rosewood back and sides, a spruce top, and mahogany neck. This guitar has the original clover tuners and tailpiece. The hardware is in excellent condition. The tuners are perfectly functional and turn very smoothly. There are at least 5 top cracks, all of which have been professionally cleated and are stable. the fingerboard looks to have been replaced (although the fingerboard dots look original?) and a truss rod was installed. The frets are new.

This guitar is currently strung with Argentine 10s and is incredibly easy to play. It plays like butter with no buzzes or other sonic problems. Action is very low at 2.8mm.

This instrument just has the sort of wear you'd expect of an instrument of this age (i.e. small scratches, dings, pickwear, etc.) It's extremely rare to find a Busato that is so well preserved, and even rarer to find the elusive Modele #45 in such good condition!

1940s Busato Modele #45

This beautiful guitar was built by the renowned French luthier Jean Barault. Biréli Lagrène, Tchavolo Schmitt, Dorado Schmitt, Angelo Debarre, and Stochelo Rosenberg currently play and endorse Barault guitars. With an All-Star list of endorsements, there's no doubt Barault is building the sort of guitar that meets the criteria of the world's most discerning players.

2018 Park Montmartre

Dell Arte's Hommage model has long been considered one of the best Favino copies available. Handmade in San Diego by John Kinnard, this model features a European spruce top, a three piece highly flamed maple neck, and an ebony fingerboard. It has been fitted with a set of three on a plate Schaller tuners and a nickel DR tailpiece. A strap button was installed in the heel.

The Hommage model is nearly identical to Dell'Arte's Jimmy Rosenberg model, which Jimmy Rosenberg used on numerous recordings including: Rose Room, Djangos Tiger, and Trio.

The tone is pure Favino! Strong nasal upper mids, deep low end, and loads of BARK! Setup is perfect with action at a very slinky 2.8mm. It is strung with 11 gauge Argentine strings.

The condition is excellent, with a scuff mark on the lower bout and a few dings on the binding. The frets have some wear, but still have plenty of life left in them.

2007 Dell’Arte Hommage

The acclaimed luthier Riccardo Mordeglia hails from Ferrara, the Italian heartland of guitar making that also produced pioneering builders such as Luigi Mozzani and Mario Maccaferri. Riccarddo is a diligent student of the Emilian school of luthiers and has had the opportunity to restore original instruments constructed by Mozzani and Maccacferri. These luthiers laid the groundwork for the modern "Gypsy guitar." Riccarddo has taken it upon himself to take a look back at the original design principals of these groundbreaking luthiers and adapt them to make the best possible Gypsy jazz guitar.

This unique model is based on a unique Papiri and Burgassi guitar played by Django

Siro Burgassi was part of the mass emigration of master Sicilian luthiers (Di Mauro, Oliveri Anastasio, etc) who left Catania in the early 20th century. In the 1930s Burgassi and his countrymen setup a series of shops on the East side of Paris and quickly adapted their skills to making jazz guitars in the Selmer Maccaferri style. Burgassi worked as a banjo neck maker for the legendary luthier Bartolomeo Busato. Burgassi later went on to produce instruments in collaboration with another of Busato's proteges, Gino Papiri. They constructed many banjos, some very ornate, which bear the "SG" logo on the headstock. Papiri, who was the father in-law of Jacques Favino, later worked at the Favino workshop. Burgassi continued to build under his own name, earning a reputation as one of the most creative and innovative lutheirs from the Golden Era of Franco-Italian luthiere.

While based on the design principals of Burgassi, this instrument is no mere copy. The bracing, neck, and top arch are much improved resulting in a much more stable and melodious instrument. It features a bear claw spruce top, cherry back and sides, a mahogany neck with a wenge spline, a wenge fingerrboard, and pearwood binding. Hardware includes a vintage 40s era trapeze tailpiece and a set of three on a plate tuners.

Anyone who has ever compared 12 fret guitars to 14 fret guitars will always note the superior resonance, tone, and projection of the 12 fret model. However, most modern players require high fret access making the sonic trade off a 14 fret model a necessity. This ingenious Burgassi design has no heel, allowing for a 12 fret neck joint and a far deeper cutaway than possible on a convention neck joint. The result is all the benefits of tone, projection, and playability of a short 650mm 12 fret model with the high fret access of a 14 fret model.
The sound of this instrument seems to speak from a bygone era, with a voice more akin to the guitars built during the 1930s Golden Era of Franco-Italian luthiery. The aged spruce works its magic, producing a mature and open tone that fills the room with ease. The heat bent top allows for a quick, snappy attack and lots, and lots of volume. This instrument produces exceptionally crisp, singing leads that are chimey and beautiful. This is a result of this guitar's wonderful high end response which is colorful, rich, and cutting. The bass response is perfectly present, but not overwhelming, resulting in excellent clarity and definition across the entire range of the instrument.

2023 Mordeglia Papiri Burgassi

John Kinnard earned a name for himself as one of the preeminent builders of Gypsy jazz guitars in North America while working as the head luthier for Dell'Arte in San Diego. Dell'Arte's Hommage model, designed and built by John, has long been considered one of the best Favino copies available and was widely regarded as Dell'Arte's best model. The Hommage model became the basis for numerous signature models including the Angelo Debarre model, the Jimmy Rosenberg model, and the Robin Nolan model. Dell'Arte closed it's doors in 2008, and since then John has been primarily building flatops. This rare foray back into the Gypsy jazz world is a boon for all those who appreciated his work with Dell'Arte. 

Like the original Hommage model, this guitar has a larger 16 1/2" Favino sized body and a longer 673mm scale. It features a European spruce top, rosewood back and sides, a mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. It has been fitted with a set of Kluson tuners and a brass Saga tailpiece.

Maurice first gained recognition as a builder of classical guitars and in 1989 was bestowed with the honor of "Best French Craftsman." Maurice was an apprentice of the legendary Gypsy guitar maker Jacques Favino, and in 1986 he began building his own Selmer style guitars which quickly became the most popular choice of professional Gypsy guitarists. Dupont's Gypsy models are built entirely in Cognac, France by master luthiers Patrick (who joined the Dupont team in 1994) and Mathias (since 2002) under the supervision of Maurice Dupont. The collective experience.of the Dupont team along with Maurice's stock of well aged, select tonewoods yields instruments of unsurpassed tone and playability.

This rare and beautiful MD-50B is a deluxe version of the tried and true workhorse of Gypsy jazz, the MD-50. Upgrades include gorgeous, highly figured Brazilian rosewood and European maple binding. The top is European spruce top and the neck is walnut.

This guitar has the refinement of tone and playability you'd expect of Dupont's flagship MD series model. Single notes are thick, almost syrupy, with a roundness and sweetness reminiscent of some of the best Selmer guitars of the 1940s.  If you tend to shy away from brighter guitars in favor of more mids, then this guitar is for you!

This guitar also posses Dupont's signature "dry" sound which is free of annoying echo and overtone ringing. Each note is clear, present, and precise. Chords are rich and complex making chord melody playing a joy.

This instrument is in mint condition, with almost no sings of use over it's long life. There's is just a slight bit of fretwear, but otherwise looks completely new! Action is set at a very comfortable 2.8mm. Strung with Argentine 1510 strings.

1995 Dupont MD50B

Here is a wonderful short scale D hole guitar by the illustrious Vancouver, B.C. builder Michael Dunn. This very experienced and capable luthier has a career that stretches back to the late 60s. As far as anyone knows, Michael was the first North American luthier to make Selmer inspired guitars. 

While Michael's instruments are clearly based on Mario Maccaferri's original designs, they are much more than mere copies. Always unique, Michael's guitars are a breath of fresh air in the very conservative world of Selmer guitars. His willingness to experiment with materials, design, and aesthetics appeals to those looking for something different.

This beautiful Mystery Pacific model features a short 635mm scale, 14 fret neck, and a 16 1/4" body. The top is sitka spruce, the back and sides are myrtle, and the neck is Honduran mahogany. This model features a Maccaferri inspired resonator, Spertzel tuners, wood strap peg, and a compensated ebony saddle. 

The tone is rich and complex with a very thick midrange and an exceptionally resposive bass register. It is especially nice for solo chord melody playing and rhythm.

The condition is excellent and looks almost new. Only small signs of wear: just a few very small scratches and dings as well as some mild fretwear. At some point the instrument sustained some shipping damage to the side of the lower bass bout. There are signs of two repaired cracks on the side and the endblock was replaced by Michael Dunn.

1990 Michael Dunn Mystery Pacific

This is something you don't see very often: a 1930s Busato 12 fret D hole! If guitars could talk this one would certainly have a lot to say. It has undoubtedly lived many "Gypsy lives" and has the mojo to prove it.


This guitar was built at the begining of Busato's illustrious lutherie career in Paris. The name plate on the headstock (never seen one like this before!) indicates that the guitar was constructed in Busato's first shop at 40 rue d'orgemont in Paris. He later moved on to other locations: 4 Cité Griset and 140 Boulevard de Ménilmontant.


Being an older guitar, one can only guess that it may have been made with Busato's own two hands. In his later years he employed up to 40 people, so it's unlikely he made every "Busato" himself. The early date of this guitar suggests this may be one of his own! Additionally, this guitar is the most "labeled" Busato I've ever come across. In addition to the name plate on the head stock, the name "Busato" is stamped on the neck block, the back, and on one of the top braces. Busato clearly wanted people to know who built this guitar!


The guitar has Rosewood back and sides, a Spruce top, and a three piece Mahogany neck with any ebony spline.


It has the original cloverleaf enclosed tuners that turn backwards. Also features some fancy banjo style fingerboard inlays.


The proportions are similar to a Maccaferri: 640mm scale, 15 3/4" body.


This guitar has numerous top and back cracks, some of which have been cleated, some have been glued, and others have yet to be repaired. There is one long crack that runs along the entire back of the guitar. There is also top separation on the waist (treble side).Good news is that after all these years the neck is still perfectly straight!


The guitar sounds very full with fat, rounded lead notes and lush chords. This guitar doesn't have the ferocious volume that the Grand Modeles have, but the tone is interesting with the complexity and maturity you'd expect from a guitar that is over 70 years old!

1930s Busato 12 Fret D Hole

Here's a rare opportunity to own a fine, handmade guitar at a price normally reserved for Asian imports. This high quality Selmer copy was handmade in Dell'Arte's California workshop and features laminate rosewood back and sides, a bear claw spruce top, and a walnut neck. Hardware includes a set of Gotoh Three-on-a-Plate tuners and a DR tailpiece. 

As it is named after Django's famous Selmer #503, it is fairly accurate Selmer copy which produces a very traditional tone. It has the crisp highs and juicy, complex mids that are so characteristic of the classic Selmer sound. 

The condition of this instrument is excellent, showing only a few signs of mild use. Other than a few light scratches on the body, it's almost like new and plays easily with low 2.6mm action.

Over the past several decades Leo Eimers has been one of the prominent builders of Selmer Maccaferri guitars in the Netherlands. Based in Almere, just outside of Amsterdam, Eimers builds his instruments entirely himself by hand. He is particularly well respected as a student of "Golden Age" luthiers such as Maccaferri, Selmer, Busato, and Favino. He uses his knowledge of these luthiers to build some of the most authentic and well constructed Selmer copies available. His instruments have been used by many professionals over the years, most notably Stochelo and Nous'che Rosenberg of the Rosenberg Trio, Robin Nolan, Boulou Ferre, and Wawau Adler.

This instrument features a spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and a walnut neck which has a Selmer style grafted headstock. A set of brass Schaller three on a plate tuners and a brass HSC tailpiece are included. A bigtone pickup is wired to an endpin jack.

Weighing in at 4.25 lbs, this guitar is light weight and resonant. The round soundhole yields a more flatop like tone, with more bass and mids than a typical Gypsy guitar. The highs are very round and warm, resulting thick, mellifluous leads.

This instrument is in excellent condition and is set up with easy playing 3mm action. There is a large scratch on the lower bass bout of the top. Otherwise, the guitar is near mint!

2021 Eimers Solitude

This stunning instrument was built in Ontario, Canada by the exceedingly skilled and well respected luthier Zach Lefebvre. Zach's highly creative deigns push the boundaries of aesthetic beauty and tonal refinement resulting in maximal visual and sonic fulfillment. 

This wonderful Ember model exemplifies Zach's approach in it's striking looks and impressive resonance. The comfortable 16" birdseye maple body is fitted with a carved spruce top, a cantilevered maple neck, and an ebony fingerboard with brass frets. The headstock features a rosewood veneer and the binding and bridge are ebony. The top and back are embellished with an attractive vine motif. Hardware includes a hammered bronze tailpiece, floating humbucking pickup, and a set of Gotoh 510 tuners. The upper bass bout includes a soundport which provides more accurate monitoring for the player.

This instrument's fascinating exterior is only matched by it's unique internal design. The top is supported by a sophisticated X based bracing which includes numerous additional tone bars for maximal sonic refinement. Additionally, there are two beautifully carved free floating braces that connect the end block to the tail block. This innovation was likely inspired by the famous Larson Brothers design which employed metal rods for a similar purpose.

This instrument produces a lush, full acoustic tone that has warmth and depth for delicate chord melody playing while also possessing the strong single note projection one needs for acoustic lead playing. It's so rare to find an acoustic archtop of any era that can achieve this, especially newer builds which are largely constructed with idea that some sort of amplification will be used. This is a purely acoustic instrument through and through, but when on stage the lush sounding humbucker will allow you to get the volume you require.

Parisian luthier Christelle Caillot has attracted much attention over the last decade, including endorsements from such luminaries as Angelo Debarre, Kamlo Barre, and Christophe Astolfi. Her instruments combine a deep knowledge of the traditional Selmer guitar with modern standards of playability and aesthetics. This example features a sleek modern look, excellent playability, and an extremely clear and deep tone.

The MD100 is the mahogany version of Dupont's best selling MD50 model. The basic guitar is the same as the MD50, with the only differences being a satin finish and the wood choices: French spruce top, beautiful quilted mahogany back and sides, and a mahogany neck.

The setup on this guitar is particularly nice, with the action sitting at a very low 2.8mm. It's an easy player with a fast neck and a smooth, low tension feel. Perfect for those looking to execute some of this genre's more difficult techniques.

This example has a very clear and direct tone, with excellent highs and loads of volume. It's astounding Maurice can build a guitar in this price range with the looks, playability, and sound that this guitar possess. Most bang for the buck!

Maurice Dupont has long been one of the most respected luthiers in France and one of the first contemporary makers to specialize in producing the Selmer Maccaferri guitar. Maurice first gained recognition as a builder of classical guitars and in 1989 was bestowed with the honor of "Best French Craftsman." Maurice was an apprentice of the legendary Gypsy guitar maker Jacques Favino, and in 1986 he began building his own Selmer style guitars which quickly became the most popular choice of professional Gypsy guitarists. Countless Gypsy stars including Raphael Fays, Biréli Lagrène, Tchavolo Schmitt, and Romane have played Dupont guitars which appear on hundreds of recordings.

The MD50 is Maurice's standard Selmer copy which is based on the same specifications as the legendary Selmer guitars produced from 1932-1951. This rare and beautiful MD-50B is a deluxe version of the tried and true workhorse of Gypsy jazz, the MD-50. Upgrades include gorgeous, highly figured Brazilian rosewood and European maple binding. The top is European spruce top and the neck is walnut.

This guitar has the refinement of tone and playability you'd expect of Dupont's flagship MD series model. Single notes are thick, almost syrupy, with a roundness and sweetness reminiscent of some of the best Selmer guitars of the 1940s.  If you tend to shy away from brighter guitars in favor of more mids, then this guitar is for you!

This guitar also posses Dupont's signature "dry" sound which is free of annoying echo and overtone ringing. Each note is clear, present, and precise. Chords are rich and complex making chord melody playing a joy.

Action is set at a very comfortable 2.8mm. Strung with Argentine 1510MF strings.

2015 Dupont MDC50B

This lovely Selmer copy was made in Greece by Adonis Goulielmos of TΣIGANiZE IT GUITARS. It features a German spruce top, three piece cypress/rosewood back, cypress sides, a mahogany neck, ebony binding, and an ebony fingerboard. It is outfitted with Grover tuners and a Saga tailpiece. The bridge features a compensated, two piece saddle.

Unlike typical Selmer copies, the truss is accessed from the headstock.

The tone of this instrument is spunky and light, with a snappy response and a delightful openness to the sound. The cypress back and sides give the instrument a bit of a flamenco flare that you don't typically hear in Selmer guitars.  This guitar projects extremely well, with the kind of power that will allow you to blast through the din of the proverbial campfire jam with ease. Chords sound crisp and crunchy which produces a rhythm sound that has character and attitude.

This instrument is in excellent condition but does show signs of significant use over the it's short life. It has quite a bit of pickwear on the top, especially on the treble side of the top which has a lot of pick scratches and dings. The frets are also worn and will likely need to be crowned sometime soon. The treble side moustache piece also has some wear, with a bit of wood having been rubbed off. There are signs that this guitar once had a pickguard but it has been removed. Otherwise, this instrument is in excellent condition with no major damage or repairs.

This is a great deal for a fine, European handmade instrument, which are very hard to come by in this price range.
