Before Drum & Bass became a genre and Jungle became a scene, the culture which it became in the U.K. came from the original rave culture which started in and around London in 1988.  This was the underground sound of London which Acid House came from.  Chicago & Detroit sounds were most of the early soundtrack, but New York emerged as one the British favorites as Todd Terry became popular.  My Bonesbreaks volumes which were DJ Breaks using House elements became so popular, I managed to wind up in the middle of the explosion of rave in 1989, and the song "Block Rocking Beats" by Success-N-Effect became the prototype Drum & Bass song and nobody ever heard that dirty aggressive style before.  The 808 kick in that track is so lethal, it would cause the coil to fuse to the woofer and sometimes catch fire.  No joking.  It happened at Metro 700 in Long Island and a rave in the Bronx in the leg of the Whitestone Bridge.  The woofer actual set ablaze.  That being said, I always appreciated a good Drum & Bass set.  This mix isn't done any different then the way we mixed in the 1990's.  Straight mixing on Technics 1200's and a mixer for the duration of the mix.  The actual track selections?  I got lucky, a friend who had a distributor was downsizing and 1000 records fell into my lap.  As I was going through stacks I was amazed at what I was hearing.  This is an end result of that.

Hailing from the South-West UK, 20-year-old, Cam Mussell, has continued to venture further into his musical career with no limitations or restrictions for genre or style. From working behind the scenes with video game and film composition, leading to licensing to the likes of Google and Walt Disney, scoring indie short films and ghostwriting for several mainstream artists and rappers, Aurbs continues to broaden his horizons with his next creative step. 

2016 saw Aurbs joining Stanton Warriors’ imprint, Punks Music, touring around festivals and club nights across the UK, overseeing and providing visual designs for the Punks family and other members of the UK Bass scene, and working alongside Punks management to grow the label as a whole.

This mix really represents everything he is about as an artist, as we span the length of a decade in reverse, travelling up from 130BPM to 140BPM over the course of a blissful hour, slapping together break-influenced originals with some incredibly smooth blends. "Echoes of Miyamoto Musashi" is Rebellion's first full-length mix of this year that was, in fact, a freestyle set that was performed for a live stream on July 10th, 2020 (via Twitch), for the fundraiser to help keep San Diego's Kava Lounge venue afloat thru these trying times during Covid-19. Kava Lounge has been the underground music hub for the city these past 16yrs. The SD electronic music scene came together to help raise over $14k within the span of a week, since announcing its original statement of shutting down, on July 8th.

Charles Rebellion has considered this his direction and interpretation of Jungle music aesthetic since 2015, when he first released his mix, "The Art of Chessboxing", for the Upgrade podcast mix series. Having been born grown up in Japan as an American, Rebellion grew up at a young age enjoying samurai TV shows. The story of Miyamoto Musashi has long fascinated his imagination and the way he views his life today. Ronin has always been his path. With duality, patience & understanding is always sought in all aspects of his life. Enjoy the story within the music. Immerse yourself into the very fabric of Musashi's echoes thru the frequencies and allow yourself to let the mind wander and create it's own tale within the beats & basslines.

APX 1, A Los Angeles Born & Raised Dj/Producer who has been involved with the L.A. Underground Scene for over 25 years now. Primarily known for his own unique rough sound & west coast influenced Hip Hop style of Drum n Bass. In 1997 APX 1 started his own artist management company Revolution which was the leading West Coast Drum & Bass Roster. Roster included talents of R.A.W., CURIOUS, HIVE, LION, APX 1, MC QUESTION MARK, and MC DAPPA D. APX 1 has performed at some of Southern Californias record breaking massives. Including Monster Massive, Together As One, Rewind, Guerilla Warfare, and The Cypress Hill Smokeout, including every underground venue for jungle that Los Angeles has to offer. In 1999 Apx 1 co-founded Herbn' Music along with partner Dj Curious which featured ragga influenced jungle music. Which became an imprint for los angeles ragga drum n bass. During this year Apx 1 alongside Raw and Curious toured the entire country. Well over 30 States were toured during just this one year. In 2001 Apx 1 took all of his reggae/hip hop knowledge and put it to work on his own drum n bass label Ghetto Life Recordings along with Ghetto Life Clothing. 1st release was ground breaking for the hip hop/jungle scene. Along with fellow producer SUBFLO a masterpiece was born. Blending the rough gangsta filled lyrics of West Coast Connection with a monstrous amen laced track that took the U.S. by storm. Some of Ghetto Life Recordings dj's and producers include CRS?, SLYTEN, STEEL, JAHWY & IRAY. During his career Apx 1 has released a catalogue of mixtapes and mixed cd's that continues to grow. 2006 was a groundbreaking year for Ghetto Life and Tonz of Drumz. During this year both Curious and Apx1 packed full of merchandise embarked on a tour. HERBN' IN DA GHETTO TOUR included states on both coasts of the United States. The tour also included a date in Johannesburg, South Africa. Now in this New Year of 2007 Apx 1 along with partner Curious have become a pair of the top promoters with Tonz of Drumz in Los Angeles. With a Saturday Night Monthly called "DETOUR". Also a Sunday Day Party Monthly called "I LOVE L.A." that has Over 40 Local Artists Booked at Every Event! We have catered to some of the Best of the Best when it comes to Local All Stars as well as Super Stars. On Halloween 2010 we showcased the Classic Reggae Legend Eek-a-Mouse & WU TANG AFFILIATE Prodigal Sunn from Sunz of Man! We Are Now Celebrating its 7th Year in the LA Undergroud Party Circuit! Now in 2014 It has become one of the Best Day Parties to Attend to for The Los Angeles Underground Bass Scene! APX 1 has become one of the most booked artists in Los Angeles. He has Been of the Resident Dj's at the World Famous House of Blues on Sunset in Hollywood for the past 7 Years.
