Getting a script picked up is a cool thing if you’re a scriptwriter, but not for an aspiring musician. Writing a script for a sequel to 1998’s instant classic ‘You’ve Got Mail’ set in the present day probably sounds as dumb as it actually is, but that's exactly what I had done.

What started out as a fun fan-fiction ode with a nod to the Tinder generation eventually made it’s way into the right hands, got picked up, cast and nearly green-lit. It wasn’t until July of this year that the studio finally released me from my contract, which meant that I could go back to writing my album. 

So here’s the first single. It’s called ‘Sauvage’.

Take It Back is a hopeful break up tune, reminding the listener that sometimes the best way to mend a broken heart is dancing it out. The first in a series of singles Figgy recorded with Brooklyn vocalist Angelica Bess (Body Language), Take It Back marks a turning point for the producer, moving heavier into songwriting and recording of live instruments. Live bass, warm pads and catchy guitar riffs lay down the bed for Angelica’s soulful vocals to pull right on the heart strings. While the subject of heartbreak may be a familiar trope, it’s the honesty and simplicity that make the tune stand out. The slight influence of 80’s R&B and boogie ads a feeling of nostalgia, but with enough modern elements to keep you in the present. With super catchy vocals, don’t be surprised when you find yourself singing along after just a few listens.

Take It Back (feat. Angelica Bess)

KING burst onto the scene this June with the release of her debut single "Promise", a flawlessly produced, life-affirming record that established her  as one of the years hottest new talent. Now she is set to release her follow up single, "Police", this October, further cementing her position as a unique and fierce ly talented artist.  

Released earlier this year and described as stunning and one of the biggest debuts of the year by The 405, "Promise"  was an ethereal, neo-soul inspired anthem that captured peoples imagination, amassing close to a million views on YouTube in a little over two months. Much like her music, KINGs DNA is made up of a vibrant amalgamation of Scandinavian cool and South American/Caribbean attitude. 

Gritty and defiant, KING makes nuanced and mature pop music with genuine emotional heft, an avenue which is explored further with the release of "Police". Where on "Promise" her vocals were used equally as a sonic texture as a lead in their own right, with "Police"

KINGs vocals are set front and centre. By turns commanding and sultry, "Police" is an inspirational call to arms, with the euphoric bridge giving way to a rousing vocal + synth led chorus.

We couldn't wait to remix another up and coming female artist for even more GIRL POWER and totally fell in love with @kingdeco 's voice! We wanted to breathe new life into the original song to create a fun, bass driven dance remix that we could incorporate into our DJ set.
