Future Forest 2023- The Prism

I acknowledge the Meanjin Traditional Owners of the land on which these creations were made manifest in the physical realm. After picking up a smashing Dastardly Kuts DJ residency at Babylon on Eagle Street in my hometown of Brisbane, I thought I'd take the opportunity to start a new Kut Above Sessions Mixtape Collection.

This is Volume One of the Babylon Sunset Sessions recorded live on Friday the 12th of April, 2024 with vibes of the new and infinite potential of love in my heart.

The last Sessions Collection was released in 2019, way before the World turned upside down with the Covid pandemic, so it feels nice to be back behind the decks and doing what I do best.

After just returning from a year of living on Country and getting reacquainted with the Ancestors, Spirit, Cultural Ritual & Lore, I was a bit rusty on the first couple of transitions in this one, but I soon found my groove.

I am happy with this one and feel it will stan up well against my other Dastardly Kuts live recordings from over the past 20 years in this game.

I'm grateful to be back and feel more ready than ever before to claim my crown as the true King of Babylon.

Bass Cat’s Hip Hop Mix II

This series is made not for the raging dance floor but for chilling with friends, starting off an epic day, or just on a really dope sound system or headphones. These mixes are comprised of current tracks I have gathered and also some classic tracks from the last couple decades. All of the tracks I believe in completely. I like the challenge of mixing different genres and styles into a complete 80 minute aural pleasure field. I love playing live and throwing down funky dance music but I also love these deep grooves. I put a lot of thought, time, and emotion into gathering these tracks, figuring out how to put them together, and mixing them into the final mix. It is a creative and sometimes difficult process but it is so rewarding to complete it and post for others to enjoy. This mix is truly a window into me and into a sampling of the tracks I love. One <3 to all of the artists, composers, producers, remixers, dreamers, and visionaries who created these tracks. These experiences have influenced DJ Bass-Lion's unique artistic flare. DJ Bass-Lion plays various genres but is best known for the heavy bass lines and sweet reggae vibes.
