This artist from Portugal first caught our attention way back in about 2013 when he was about 15 years of age.  His productions range from Tarraxo, Afro Beat and Kuduro through to Kizomba. 

For this EP we’ve chosen some of his most brutal of tracks in a dark dystopian apocalyptic vein. 

When we first heard these tracks, they just blew our minds with their immense power and unique sound.  The tracks exhibit a raw, unpolished demo-like quality which we would not change for the world. They also demonstrate a maturity way beyond the 15 years of age of the producer when he made some of these tracks.  

The brutal beauty of these tracks is further mythologized by the fact that pre-masters or wavs just don’t exist anymore as Dj Doraemon’s computer crashed and he also did not back up any of his stuff.  

So we are left with just the unmastered MP3’s in 160kbps!  You must think we’re mad but this fact didn’t deter us from releasing this EP because this is essential music that needs to be heard and which we must have on our label regardless of quality and bit rate.  It also ties in with the way in which a lot of underground artists of African heritage actually drop their tracks without giving a f**k as to bit rate.  Now that might mean an epic fail on a great sound system but paradoxically this is the real deal in many ways!

Over the 5 tracks Dj Doraemon creates distorted polyrhythmic beats interspersed with gun shots, sirens, bells that toll for thee, animated voices, crash cymbals, screams, groans and static interference. There’s a naiveté and doom laden atmospherics to create bleak yet enthralling imagery.  

3 of the tracks belong to the Tarraxo genre whilst the latter 3 to Kuduro.  This is a name to watch out for in the future but we couldn’t wait and so here he is in all of his rawness!

BIO:
Dj Doraemon aka Ivan Lima is from Cova Da Moura, Lisboa, Portugal.  He is now 18 years of age but started producing at the age of 10 after he saw a friend working in FL Studio 4.  He feels he has developed his own style and vibe but also acknowledges that he so much more to learn.

In 2016, we came across the "apocapiltic" DJ Doreamon, his rhythms from the end of the world got us hooked. They became part of our playlists and sets, but we always questioned ourselfs who was actually dropping these incredible sounds we were dancing to. It was thru conversations and chit chats that we found out that Dj Doreamon was from Miratejo, hometown for some of us in CusCus, wich led us to meet eachother and next minute he was playing at our gigs.

We were organizing parties (or free spaces where music and freedom happens) when the idea of CusCus started poppin our heads. It was destined that our 1st realease in vinyl would be Dj Doreamon. And so it was. This is what we leave you. Something we've been working on for the last year, its called "Souls of Miratejo". An album entirely produced by Dj Doreamon. A compilation of sensations, vibrations, emotions and wellbeings that is part of living in Miratejo. The corners and staircases, squares and beaches, gardens and garages... places where Souls of Miratejo come together, share and dig in dreams overlooking the bay turned to the south west.

This started out as a dream, and now its in our hands, just turn on the speakers and let it enter your bodies.

Em 2016 cruzámo-nos com o "Apocalypse" do Dj Doraemon e as batidas de fim de mundo prenderam-nos. Estas batidas tornaram-se parte dos nossos sets e playlists, questionando-nos sempre quem andaria a largar estes sons incríveis que andávamos a dançar. Foi divagando em conversas que demos conta de que o Dj Doraemon era do Miratejo, local onde alguns de nós viviam, já tinham vivido ou ainda vivem. Foi isso que permitiu o nosso encontro. Daí até tocar nas nossas festas foi bem rápido.

Andávamos a organizar festas (ou espaços de liberdade onde também há música) quando começámos a magicar a CusCus. Estava destinado que a nossa 1ª release em vinil fosse a do Doraemon. E assim é. Aquilo que vos deixamos e que trabalhámos no último ano chama-se "Souls of Miratejo". É um álbum inteiramente produzido pelo DJ Doraemon. Uma compilação de sensações, estares, vibrações, e emoções do que é viver no Miratejo. Os recantos e escadas, praças e praias, terraços e garagens. Sítios onde as almas do Miratejo se cruzam, partilham, escavam e sonham mirando a baía escondida a noroeste. Este trabalho partiu de um sonho, e agora está aqui, nas nossas mãos, e basta ligá-lo à coluna para entrar nos nossos corpos.
