Pete Tong was onto something with this Ibiza lark. 2+ hours selecting music for this sunset view at Hostel La Torre is up there with the realest DJ experiences I've had. And playing to a room full of people with no intention of dancing gave me the freedom to try things I've not had a chance in a proper club setting. Mad love to Pete Gooding and Mark Barrott for building something special at La Torre.

Hostel La Torre Ibiza live mix Summer 2018

Having dabbled with DJing during her 20s, Alice Palace took a break for well over a decade, favouring the dance floor over the DJ booth. She only seriously reconnected with DJing in the last year during the enforced lockdown after doing a show for a friend on EH-FM. A residency soon followed on Cowbell Radio, along with shows on Isolation Station, Graffiti Kings Radio, and Rising Edge Radio, with occasional sets for various live-streaming platforms in London, Edinburgh, and her new hometown of Berlin. 

  Her usual style is downtempo chugging dance music, often with a nod to the '80s and a large dose of sleaze. But here she has stepped up the pace a little, opening with some dark and moody basslines leading into a more uplifting dance-inducing second half.  

“I find it hard to define my style of music, it definitely doesn't fit easily into one or two genres. My earliest influences came from Lindstrom & Prins Thomas's style of spacey disco and they are still very present in what I play now, but I also really enjoy slow pitched down music that you can’t necessarily dance to but which provides a different type of escapism. Hence why my Mixcloud has a wide variety of sets playing many different types of music. It's a way to channel and express my emotions… and emotions change from day to day, week to week. I guess the best way to describe what I play is anything that either moves me emotionally or makes me want to move my feet. That's probably the best and most simple way to put it!”, she said.

What Lovers Do...A Valentines Day Mix

Manchester born now New York based DJ Billy Caldwell came up in Manchester, England's underground nightlife scene of the late '80s, particularly the infamous Haçienda nightclub. Billy is a  DJ, producer. His sound has been described as a Balearic passport bearing UK house and NYC disco stamps with the darker elements of Detroit & UK Techno spliced in. 

 

Billy gained notoriety upon launching the underground Epping Walk after hours party, frequented by such music legends as New Order, Tony Wilson, DJ Sasha, The Happy Mondays, Mike Pickering, The Stone Roses, and Noel Gallagher. The Epping Walk, which was held in two converted apartments knocked through and outfitted with one of the city's best sound systems, gained a reputation as the go-to party spot after the  Haçienda closed at 2 am. On this foundation, he developed a career and reputation as one of Manchester's best  & eclectic selectors .

 

Billy is currently a resident DJ at the Good Room in Brooklyn, and the Standard Hotel ,Sunset Beach, Shelter Island & various guest spot around the U.S & Europe, he plays regular guest spots at le Bain , The Boom Boom Room and has  has a Balearic Radio Show called 'Camino Del Sol' on the Lot Radio in Brooklyn. 

 

Throughout his career, Billy has DJed at such venues as Red Rocks Amphitheater, Radio City Music Hall, Roseland Ballroom, Cosmopolitan (Las Vegas), Festival No. 6 (Wales), the original Sankys Soap, HOME and the Haçienda. He also acts as New Order's opening DJ during their U.S. tours. He has been featured on BBC Radio 1, MixMag, Pirate Radio, City Life and TimeOut to name a few.
