#NOVIOLENTMUSICCHALLENGE

DJ Blufiya was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Influenced by his father, a record collector and guitar player, his mother, an avid admirer of several genres of music, including soca, house, gospel and reggae, and watching his brother deejay and host radio shows at the radio station at Medgar Evers College, Blufiya found his own passion for music.



His DJ style is Brooklyn forged by the densely Caribbean populated neighborhood of East Flatbush; with his own family rooting from Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada themselves, he grew up loving the NY carnival experience, jouvert morning throwing mud, oil, paint, powder and participating in jab jab. DJ Blufiya got his first gig in 2005 at fifteen years old at JRG lounge which stood where the Barclays Center now reigns. He hustled his way onto the NYC DJ circuit, sometimes working pro bono to get exposure and create his brand.



Blufiya prides himself on rarely using a microphone, a silent assassin. He let’s the music he plays speak for itself and move the room. He currently collaborates with his brother on their music venture, Top Shelf Sounds, founded in 2014, promising good music and a good time to partygoers. The brothers also produce and edit(remixing) caribbean music.



DJ Blufiya has been the resident DJ at the well known Negril Village restaurant in Greenwich Village since 2015, formerly the resident DJ at Falucka Lounge from 2014 to 2015, played at popular NYC venues such as SOBs and Katra Lounge, played alongside the B2B Entertainment group, and supports several DJ charity events. He is currently educating himself  in music production to polish his musical framework.
