Founded in the early 20th century, Hayti became a crucial hub along the railroad running from Kennett to Caruthersville. The city's early economy was driven by agriculture, timber, and commerce, with multiple general stores, two banks, and several woodworking plants fueling its growth.

Hayti Heights, Missouri
Just west of Hayti lies Hayti Heights, a small city with its own identity and community spirit. Connected by Missouri Route 84, this city serves as an important link between surrounding areas.

Caruthersville, Missouri – The County Seat
As the county seat of Pemiscot County, Caruthersville holds significant historical importance. The city was officially laid out in 1857 on the Walker plantation by George W. Bushey and J. Hardeman Walker. It was later named in honor of Honorable Samuel Caruthers, a key figure in Missouri’s history.

Major Events and Cultural Highlights
One of the most iconic events in the area is the “Battle of the Bootheel”, an intense high school football rivalry between the Caruthersville Tigers and the Hayti Indians. This matchup brings together athletes, families, and fans from across the region, reinforcing the community’s deep-rooted passion for sports and local pride.
