Paco Osuna welcomes DJ Boris to his label Mindshake for a chunky house and jacking techno EP that also features a remix from Paco Osuna and Fer BR under their shared alias Project00.

DJ Boris is a Russian born artist who's based in the American capital city New York, and he's well-known for his upbeat style that ranges between chunky tech house and thumping techno.

His two original tracks on this EP lean more towards his house music side, but still incorporate techno elements with tough percussion and loop focused grooves in the style he has featured on other labels such as Eats Everything's Edible, Nic Fanciulli's Saved Records and Elrow Music.

Spain's Paco Osuna is a DJ icon who has worked with record labels ranging from Richie Hawtin's Minus to John Digweed's Bedrock. Project00 is an alias that Paco Osuna shares with Fer BR who's an eclectic artist also based in Spain, and has featured solo tracks on other labels such as Claude VonStroke's Dirtybrid and Adam Beyer's Truesoul.

'Body Burning' opens the release with the raw funk of a disco-tinged bassline that's combined with bumping percussion and filter swept vocals. Project00's remix of Body Burning adds extra intensity with its half bar resample to create a fast-flowing techno groove. 'Keep Pushin' closes the release with its techy stabs and dark atmosphere combined with thrashing offbeat percussion.

First time on Adam Beyer's younger imprint for friends and frequent collaborators, Toronto's Carlo Lio and NYC kingpin DJ Boris collaborate with a driving techno two-tracker.

Carlo's merciless mesmeric grooves and Boris' drum-punishing sound produce the kind of infectious techno you can get lost in until before you know it it's Monday morning. Meeting in Miami during Covid, they produced this two-tracker, which joins a solid back catalogue of releases for both including the likes of Mindshake, Edible and Transmit Recordings. They're just about to kick off a B2B tour of NYC, DC, Miami and many more.

Title track 'City Nights' while still drum-driven, with a rattling rhythm and a hi-hat monsoon, has a sultry vibe, the industrial elements and spoken vocals conjuring visions of the big city alive at night. 'Break it Down' has bongos, castanets, frantic hi-hats, the works, ganging up on a boom, boom beat, relentless and hypnotic, while a robotic vocal makes a mantra of the title. Dark fun.

A career forged over decades of long nights in the Big Apple’s most revered rooms. Pioneering a music movement in a city filled with those who have so little time to pay attention, Boris has been a production powerhouse when not performing for the masses. He’s been tapped by industry leaders such as Carl Cox for his label Intec, Dubfire for his label Sci-Tec, Paco Osuna and his Mindshake records, amongst countless others.

His ability behind the decks and in the studio has not only made him a New York favorite, but his music has taken him places all around the world ranging from the shores of Playa Del Carmen to the magical White Isle known as Ibiza. Known to many as the ‘DJ’s DJ’, Boris has had the career most DJs can only wish to have. The trends, they may change but the New York native has stayed true to his drum driven sounds and created his own niche in the wide and vast world of electronic music. Taking bits and pieces from every part of the globe he visits, Boris always maintains a piece of home in his music. 

Even though his career spans nearly three decades, the journeyman DJ has yet to falter. We currently find him playing leading to destinations across the globe and his music is in high demand with forthcoming releases many sought after labels, Boris will is constantly on the tips of the younger generation’s tongue. Why? Because talent, like wine, gets better with age.
