Best Of 2020 Volume 1

Second edition of my best of 2020 series. We have a nice few baleric / adriatic groovers to begin with and get us in the mood.  Atjazz is on form this year so he features on a few tracks. Breathe In is a reflective track listen to if you want to work a few things out in your head. One of the stand out tracks for me this year is Roam in a day by South African Dj's Frigid Armadillo, wait for the break down ...... wind chimes  .... wow ! Hiya luv is actually a track from 2016 that i heard recently on a FishgoDeep mix, beautiful breezy track. I included it as it is one of my fave instrumentals of all time, check out the solo keys in the middle. 2020 has been a tumultuos year for everyone. The penultimate track love hope happieness is an uplifting gospel house track which we could all do with right now. The closing track is a tip of my cap to the origins of house .... disco! I heard this recently on a Francois K mix, love the vocal, lyrics and killer baseline !
I had a lot of fun putting this mix together and I hope it brings some joy to those who listen to it.

Best Of 2020 Volume 2

First in the series of this collection. For my first edition I have chosen mostly soulful groovy vocal tracks. But will be doing deeper, classic, techy editions also.
A little bit about the origins of this series and me as a vinyl collector. I started collecting records when I starting working after college at 23 around 98. Anyone who has collected records knows its an expensive habit. I collected heavily up until the recession 2009. And then for another few years sporadically. My house music vinyl collection is over 2,500 records and I still collect vinyl LP's but mostly digital mp3 house tracks now days. 
Dj's and music lovers were very lucky in Cork in the 90's and noughties with quite a few record shops. Plugd (and Comet before) Ronan C's Vinyl Rooms, Adrian Dunlea's Sure Shot Records and Ernies place. The sound track to our weekends (and week days) was radio friendly which was an unbelieavable source of sounds covering all genres, house, hip hop, rnb, reggae, disco, techno....
So Vinyl from the Vault is a collection of some of my all time favourite house tracks. The tracks I played continuously on loop I'm surprised the grooves aren't worn out and shaped me as a house music lover and Dj. House music is still one of my passions in life and provides a great deal of comfort and inspiration. 
 Most tracks will be instantly recognisable by house music afficiandos. And there will be a smathering of lesssor known house tracks which you may not of heard before and I hope you will enjoy. 
Making these mixes has brought me back 20 years to when I bought and heard them first. I hope you enjoy them as much as me.
PS there will be a few dodgy mixes on this serie. Each mix is a first time mix as I'm aiming to do 1 mix a week during lockdown. Too many mixes not enough time lol

Guest mix from one of my buddy and long time Dj partner DJ Duggie. Great track selection, some of my all timers in there too. A message from Duggie-
When Breon told me he was doing a series of "Vinyl from the Vault" mixes I had to jump on the bandwagon and left him with no choice but to ask me to do one.  It's been a long time since I did a mix with just vinyl. I've been using CDJ's for years now with the odd vinyl record thrown in but I'd say you'd have to go back to the mid 00's.  I listened to Breon's #1 and was inspired to dig through some of my favourite records from the past 3 decades. Mixing with vinyl is so much more fun than digital so I'll  have to dust off the Technics more often.. Hope you enjoy this one. Thanks Breono!!!
