This Mixtape was made sometime in the first quarter of 2013. I really enjoy going back to this time in music and taking in it's influence in the ever-changing cycle of musical genre's. This Being the very beginning of signs that EDM's strangle hold on a vast majority of nightclub music. Fueled by a new style or sub-gernre of Rap/Hip-Hop referred to as "Ratchet"; new artist became to reclaim Rap's place amongst the rest of the charts. While at the same time we find Trap music first finding itself in the club scene. As Rap Artists started putting out track after track working along side the industries top Trap producers. 

I like to listen this mix and think that it really represents that time; as well as that environment of change brought on by a lot of the artists you'll find on this mixtape. The guys that originally set the standard in these 2 genres. From rappers like 2 Chainz, Waka Flaka & Lil Wayne to Heavy-weight Trap producers like RL Grime, Carnage & Bauuer. Artists that were absolutley in the fore-front and incredibly influential (if not all together responsible)in turning the tide; from what was heavy EDM favoring club scene into this new form of club-ready, high-energy Rap/Ratchet/Trap style of music and DJing that we enjoy so much... With nearly 17 years of experience as a DJ, Brett Bodley is considered a young veteran in the business.  At 15 years old he bought his first set of turntables and after countless hours of practice he began entering into DMC and other various DJ competitions.  Years later he can still be found in front of both the turntables and crowds every weekend. 
 

Playing as an open format DJ, Brett Bodley has built a reputation for consistency, playing quality sets that span across nearly all generations and genres. His ability to cater to almost any crowd and flexibility to adapt to almost any situation sets him apart from the rest. This, along with a humble and honest attitude, has brought him both success and happiness as a nightlife DJ.  Holding residencies at nearly all of San Diego’s top venues had led DJ Brett Bodley to play all across the nation in cities like Las Vegas, San Francisco and Scottsdale.
 

Everywhere time he plays, DJ Brett Bodley strives to give a performance above the rest. Rocking the stage with top musical artists such as: Mackelmore, Cee Lo Green, Snoop Dogg, Tyga, 2 Chainz and Nas; DJ Brett Bodley has learned great respect for the Live performance aspect of DJing - Inspiring him to connect with crowds on more than just a musical level.  Using the microphone along with crowd interaction, DJ Brett Bodley is able to play the hype man, without overdoing it, leaving crowds happy and people pleased every time he plays. With his clean mixing style, astute track selection and overall love for music; there is no doubt that DJ Brett Bodley promises to continue to have a very bright future in the realm of open format DJing.
