A mix I’ve been meaning to do a while! 

Between 1992 (hearing my first rave tape) and 1996 (hearing my first happy hardcore set) I became a teenager and used to listen to a lot of dance albums, whatever I could get my hands on. The charts were full of energetic housey dance tunes and I used to love the Ministry Of Sound Annual mixes from Boy George, Pete Tong etc. 

At the same time my Dad was hugely into John Peel on Radio One and we would listen together some nights; my Dad (via John Peel) introduced me to Underworld and Chemical Brothers and to this day they are 2 of my favourite acts in all of music. There was something special about dance music 1994 to 1998 as it invaded the charts regularly and made its way onto TOTPS (now I’m showing my age!) in amongst the pop music, rap, ballads and rock in the charts. These years were very important for me as a DJ as I started to collect dance music and try and mix on one record player and one tape deck way before I had decks and way before I had any hardcore or jungle records. I would listen to house, speed garage, breakbeat, trip hop, trance and big beat (remember that?) with no bias, it was just fun music to a teenage Olly.

This mix features some of my absolute fave tunes from artists like Daft Punk, Kadoc, Nalin & Kane, The P*rn Kings, Chemical Brothers, Armand Van Helden, Todd Terry, Sunchyme & many more. Random mixing but great tunes! Enjoy 😎
