Hot off the back of debut chart smash ‘So Freakin’ Tight’ that jumped high into the official chart earlier this year, UK duo Tough Love are back to present their brand new single alongside R&B legend Ginuwine with the remake of the 1996 classic and chart smash ‘Pony’ out on 7 August.
 
‘Pony (Jump On It)’ is a one of a kind release, seeing the R&B legend re-record his vocals on this massive classic, it feels as though this could be even bigger than before. It sees Tough Love bring the original firmly into the contemporary dance arena and features fresh, updated vocals from Ginuwine to boot.
 
With over twenty years in the game as a multi-platinum selling artist with 10 studio albums and multi Grammy nominations, Ginuwine is one of the genres greats. It seems only right that he’d entrust his original record to an act who have solidified their place in the UK’s dance scene with their consistent underground releases as well as demonstrating their ability to stand up in the UK charts with their break out hit  ‘So Freakin Tight’. Using the iconic hook as a precursor for the track's standout crescendo, Ginuwine’s vocals feel as fresh as ever too.
 
Tough Love’s Alex & Stef have been championed for their remixing ability and their penchant to make fun, '90s inspired house records. Support has already come in from the dance music tastemakers over at BBC Radio 1 - with the likes of Danny Howard and Annie Mac regularly spinning ’So Freakin’ Tight’ - and both labelling Tough Love as an act to look out for in the coming year.
 
Following on from their sold out Get Twisted label party at Ministry of Sound, the duo also have just been announced as residents for Sankey’s new Thursday night party series, Redlight, sharing the bill with the likes of S-man aka Roger Sanchez, DJ EZ, MJ Cole and Matt Jam Lamont. Numerous festival appearances, including stand out dates at High Definition Festival and SW4, are also on the horizon in 2015 too.

Lee Walker vs. DJ Deeon feat. Katy B’s ‘Freak Like Me’ is without question the house record of 2016. Lee Walker’s remix of DJ Deeon’s rare classic first made its national radio debut via an Annie Mac ‘Hottest Record’, with Pete Tong making it his Essential New Tune the same night; further radio support quickly followed from Danny Howard (Future Anthem), MistaJam (Jam Hot), Kiss Fresh, and more. Within weeks the track had hit No.1 on Beatport, topped tastemaker charts (Buzz), and went Top 15 on Shazam’s Future Hits. 

Now featuring a new vocal from UK dance queen Katy B atop the track’s distinctive bassline,  ‘Freak Like Me’ is a surefire contender for one of this summer’s biggest anthems. On air and on sale from 17th June, with an impact date of 19th August, this single is a joint release between Defected Records and Ministry of Sound – a partnership that previously took Storm Queen’s ‘Look Right Through’ to No.1 in the UK singles chart in 2013.

‘Freak Like Me’ first set the dance music world alight after being played by Marco Carola at the Music On Ibiza 2015 closing party, a now seminal moment which went viral via YouTube. The cross genre appeal of the track has attracted heavy support from a range of DJs, including Disclosure, Dixon, The Martinez Bros, Loco Dice, and many more. And - alongside the recent remix from Armand Van Helden – it’s dominated the first waves of this year’s Ibiza parties and summer festivals.

In April, Katy B released her album, ‘Honey’, her third album and the follow-up to ‘Little Red’. Late last year she hit No.1 in the UK with Ministry of Sound alongside Tinie Tempah and KDA with her flawless vocal performance on ‘Turn The Music Louder (Rumble)’. She recently released singles with Craig David and Major Lazer (‘Who Am I?’), and Four Tet and Floating Points (‘Calm Down’).

Young British producer Lee Walker burst onto the scene in a way only possible in the digital age, transformed overnight from a bedroom producer into a breakthrough star thanks to his edit of ‘Freak Like Me’, but there's more to Walker than just one record. He’s released a slew of tracks for respected labels including Wiggle, No Idea's Original and Circus Recordings. 2016 gig highlights include Sankeys in Manchester, Ibiza and at Studio 338 in London, and The Zoo Project. He’ll appear at Radio 1 in Ibiza on 5th August.

During the 1990’s the now legendary DJ Deeon released 30 singles in four years for cult imprint Dance Mania, since then he’s continued to build upon his classic recordings with tracks through his own label, Freakmode, and DJ sets that carry on the raw spirit of ghetto house. Recent UK shows include Bloc and XOYO.
