A metaphor for a prolonged, difficult period in life, or a state of inner cold. Ahead lies only cold and a wait that never seems to end. Yet despite it all, there is no way back; there is only moving forward, toward the light, no matter how hard the path may be.

Rain and fog serve as symbols of uncertainty, sadness, and longing, while the cold is what surrounds you and keeps you from feeling joy. It’s the image of making your way through foul weather, through hardships — perhaps even great trials.

This is a song about how people make it through harsh, cold, foggy times, when it feels like spring and warmth — literally or figuratively — will never come. And despite all the trials, they don’t give up; they keep moving forward — toward victory, toward the light, toward change. In it there is sadness, resilience, and hope.
