ORIGINAL TRACKS | REMIXES

On episode 159 we present one hour recorded on an amazing location. Silves Castle in the Algarve (south of Portugal) is one of the best-conserved medieval castles in the country and it was the first time an electronic event took place there.
This Ethnic Stream was recorded on the castle’s main square by Carlos Manaça and DJ China from Underground Party Society Algarve in an especially designed Arabic / Ethnic set, which ended at sunset.

¬For Magna’s release 115D we welcome Natema, one of our favorite Brazilian producers. If you’re into Afro House, House or Tech House you definitely heard one of his tracks in the last years. Tetto Bonomi (Natema’s real name) is one of the leading artists in Brazil, with a career that started in 2008 in London, UK, and since then has performed in big clubs and festivals around the globe.

In 2018 started Transa Records with Sugar Hill and since then he’s constantly on Beatport’s sales charts. In 2018 reached Beatport’s overall Top 10 Sales Chart with “Como Va” and recently peaked #5 on Beatport’s Afro House Sales Chart with “Voimbora” a Afro House track using the vocals by As Ganhadeiras de Itapuã, traditional Brazilian singers from Salvador Da Bahia.

Natema gives his typical Afro-Brazilian touch to Carlos Manaça “African Roots”, delivering a great Afro-House new version, full of drums and groove.

This week we have a set recorded by Carlos Manaça at one of the main and first Portuguese underground clubs, Kremlin in Lisbon. Its story is connected to the Portuguese dance scene since it opened in 1988 and today is still one of the main club references in Portugal.

Guitos Live is one of the main percussionists in Portugal. Awarded several times as “Best Portuguese Live Act”, Guitos plays regularly across Portugal and in countries like Spain, England, Germany, Angola, Mozambique, and Qatar, where he had a monthly residency at one of the best clubs in Doha, Manko Loko.

He’s an exceptional percussionist, his live acts are full of energy and interaction with the crowd, and he’s one of the main Portuguese references regarding club percussionists, playing a lot live with Carlos Manaca, but he also regularly plays with bands and singers in Portugal.

For his first single, Guitos Live presents an ethnic journey using his favourite instrument, the “bongos”.
Carlos Manaça delivers an Afro House electronic version using some of the original elements, but with his typical groove.

“African Roots” is an electronic Afro House track with deep percussive tribal elements, showing his ethnic’s influences, something that has been on most of his music since the beginning.

“This Is The Police” was produced during the latest racial riots in the United States. It’s an energetic Tech House track with lush keys and a funky groove.

Carlos Manaça - African Roots - Original Mix

Carlos Manaça is one of the main Portuguese DJ’s and producers and has been an essential part of the country’s Underground dance scene since its very beginning. In 2024 celebrated 38 years inside a DJ booth but his DJ schedule is still very busy. He plays mainly in Portugal but also plays in countries like Japan, England, Switzerland, Brazil, Luxembourg, Poland, Croatia, Germany, Mexico, Angola, Mozambique, Russia, USA, Canada and Spain, where he lived from 2002 to 2021. He has now moved back to Portugal.

As a producer his name started to get international exposure in 1995 with his remixes of O.L.N. "Oporto Deep Cuts EP" released on TRIBAL AMERICA (and Tribal UK), one of the main worldwide Labels at the time. His “Reboot 144” (Acid Error Mix) was the A Side of that release and was supported by no other than Danny Tenaglia, among many other artists.

In 1999 founded Magna Recordings, one of the first underground dance Labels in Portugal with releases by Victor Calderone, Chus & Ceballos, Richie Santana, Mendo, D-Formation, Natalino Nunes, Stephane K & Koutarou M, Peter Bailey, among many others. In 2001 co-produced the worldwide hit “The Strong Rhythm” with his long time friends Chus & Ceballos, included on “Deep Dish – Global Underground 021: Moscow” CD compilation which gave them their first worldwide success reaching the top of the dance sales charts all over the globe. 

With releases on Labels like SCI+TEC Audio, Stereo Productions, Toolroom, Orange Recordings, Transmit, Otto Music, Kinetika Records, Beat Freak Recordings, Moody Recordings, Kult Records, District Audio and his own Magna Recordings, among many others, Carlos Manaça is more motivated that ever. He still loves delivering his typical Tech House & Techno tribal influenced grooves to the clubbers every weekend, and feels that still has a lot of music to bring to the global Dance Scene.

Being also an Audio Engineer (took his course at the prestigious SAE Institute) and head of Beat Works, in 2022 started as a Mastering teacher at ETIC Lisbon, one of the best and well known audio school’s in Portugal, as well as an invited master class Mastering teacher at Pro-DJ in Oporto.
