Paul Jays “Spiritual Battery” was one of Magna’s best selling vinyl releases !
Originally out in March 2001 just in time for the Winter Music Conference in Miami, “Spiritual Battery” was one of Danny Tenaglia’s highlights at his “Be Yourself” night that year, included on his “House Classics Favourites” on Beatport and became a tribal tech house anthem around the world.

In 2021, twenty years after the original vinyl release, Magna presents two great remixes of one of our best-known classics. 

DJ Vibe is Portugal’s main DJ and underground pioneer, resident of some the country’s best underground clubs in the late 80’s, present on almost all the main dance music events since the 90’s. He was also the person who “opened the door” for all the other Portuguese artists with his worldwide hit “So Get Up” as Underground Sound Of Lisbon in 1994, first released on his own Kaos Records label and later on Tribal America with a global massive success, which turned everybody’s attention to Portugal’s dance scene and made DJ Vibe a regular guest around the world.

His “Spiritual Battery” Remix is a great deep house journey, with fresh lush keys and pads, involving bass lines and including the original vocals and analogue stabs.

Luis XL Garcia is one of Portugal’s main Techno, Melodic and Progressive House DJ’s who teamed up with Portuguese Tech House DJ & Producer Massivedrum to deliver a great Progressive House Remix of our classic, with an acid twist on the breakdown.

Our release 110D also includes a new master of the original Extended Lithium Mix, remastered by Carlos Manaça at Beat Works.

“Iberican Traits” goes into dark Tech House territories. With a groovy percussion background and dark bass lines, its hypnotic high synth takes us through out the track.

“Equatorial Congo” is a deep house percussion driven groovy track, perfect to close the EP.

Our guest on this week’s episode is João Cruz, JC Delacruz real name, a young talented DJ and producer based in Oporto, north of Portugal, who releases his debut Techno album, “The Tribalism Continues” on January 9th, on Magna Recordings. With 13 tracks, “The Tribalism Continues” presents his typical sound, which goes from Tribal House to Techno, most of the time including percussions and ethnic elements.
In 2019 JC Delacruz reached more than 100 releases in Labels like Stickrecordings (Spain) Panterre Musique (France), Frequenza (Italy), Beatfreak (Spain), Beat Therapy (Canada), GAIN (Italy) among many others.
On Magna Recordings released 2 EPs ("Ghost & Ghouls" in 2016 and "Pharmacom" in 2019) and several tracks included on our "Pushing Beats" series.

Magna Recordings Radio Show by Carlos Manaça 140 | Pacha Ofir [Portugal]

Carlos Manaça is one of the main Portuguese DJ’s and producers and has been an essential part of the country’s Underground dance scene since its very beginning. In 2024 celebrated 38 years inside a DJ booth but his DJ schedule is still very busy. He plays mainly in Portugal but also plays in countries like Japan, England, Switzerland, Brazil, Luxembourg, Poland, Croatia, Germany, Mexico, Angola, Mozambique, Russia, USA, Canada and Spain, where he lived from 2002 to 2021. He has now moved back to Portugal.

As a producer his name started to get international exposure in 1995 with his remixes of O.L.N. "Oporto Deep Cuts EP" released on TRIBAL AMERICA (and Tribal UK), one of the main worldwide Labels at the time. His “Reboot 144” (Acid Error Mix) was the A Side of that release and was supported by no other than Danny Tenaglia, among many other artists.

In 1999 founded Magna Recordings, one of the first underground dance Labels in Portugal with releases by Victor Calderone, Chus & Ceballos, Richie Santana, Mendo, D-Formation, Natalino Nunes, Stephane K & Koutarou M, Peter Bailey, among many others. In 2001 co-produced the worldwide hit “The Strong Rhythm” with his long time friends Chus & Ceballos, included on “Deep Dish – Global Underground 021: Moscow” CD compilation which gave them their first worldwide success reaching the top of the dance sales charts all over the globe. 

With releases on Labels like SCI+TEC Audio, Stereo Productions, Toolroom, Orange Recordings, Transmit, Otto Music, Kinetika Records, Beat Freak Recordings, Moody Recordings, Kult Records, District Audio and his own Magna Recordings, among many others, Carlos Manaça is more motivated that ever. He still loves delivering his typical Tech House & Techno tribal influenced grooves to the clubbers every weekend, and feels that still has a lot of music to bring to the global Dance Scene.

Being also an Audio Engineer (took his course at the prestigious SAE Institute) and head of Beat Works, in 2022 started as a Mastering teacher at ETIC Lisbon, one of the best and well known audio school’s in Portugal, as well as an invited master class Mastering teacher at Pro-DJ in Oporto.
