About the CD:
I was always aware of Bukem, another DJ who managed to make underground rumblings to the listeners of the British dance scene without  us seemingly knowing who they even were... we just knew about them anyway.  immediately fell in love with this CD once Makoto's 'Inside Your Love' rolled in with MC Conrad's silky smooth mc'ing riding over the top. I'd always loved drum and bass from a distance, but from hearing that track... I was forever a massive fan. I bought into the Good Looking label, bought alot of old releases, all the mix cd's and then fell in love with Bukem's downtempo sister label 'Cookin Records'. This influence was one of the main sounds of my early vinyl days and has gone on to educate and delight for another decade and more. Play it loud, ride the groove, feel the bass. BUKEM!

DJ Cartier is one of the most active, prominent and influential garage DJs in the UK.  Currently one of the brightest stars in UK Garage, his popular Rinse FM show is shaping the genre and is notorious for always laying down well informed sets that encompass a wide variety of styles - he is regarded as one of the best selectors in the scene.   

Garage Nation resident since 2008, DJ Cartier’s "Bars With Carts" mix tape series, started as a homage and history lesson to UKG MC’s and UK Garage. It has gained in popularity and Cartier has gone on to perform for the legendary Boiler Room as well as being part of the Ministry Of Sound Essential Garage team and now Rinse FM.

UKG originator, multi-genre award winning MC that shares Cartier’s belief in musical diversity and progression.  B Live's been away from the scene for a minute, spreading his skills and scooping up awards across the board in other Bass music genres - but it's like he never left.

Undisputed lyrical don, B Live steps back into Garage  without missing a beat.  His multifaceted bars exhibit his talent as a masterful of story teller mixing metaphors with metonymy as he describes the true reality, both positive and negative of the life in the UK.  Blending classic bars with fresh material, B Live’s passion for UKG shines spectacularly alongside DJ Cartier's seamless selection.

The ‘Bars with Carts‘ series is a mixtape with a difference, and puts the emphasis on the MC.

“Most people know by now I love working with MC’s, and to be honest most of them like working with me because we get the best out of each other. What “Bars with Carts” is all about is me letting people hear just how talented some of the UKG MC’s actually are” said Cartier on the concept of the project.

This project will allow the DJ to take the best lyricists in the UKG scene, and show them off over 10 tracks that could be UKG, Grime or even Hip Hop. This series is not about Cartier on the decks, it is about the MC’s being able to show off their talent for 20 minutes without interruption, and without vocal tracks getting in the way.

“Over the years there has definitely been a perception that its all Olly Olly Olly and When I say whatever you say BO. This will show that this is definitely not the case” added Cartier.

DJ Cartier is one of the most active, influential and exciting DJ’s in the UK Garage scene. Hailing from Windsor, Cartier has been mixing UK Garage since the tender age of 12. Fast forward to present day and he is at the fore front of the UK Garage scene, travelling the worlds nightclubs and festivals showcasing his outstanding technical ability and understanding of the full spectrum of Garage music. 

A DJ Cartier set is not your usual mix of anthems that might be expected. Instead, it’s a perfect balance of classics, upfront and underground garage meaning any crowd he plays to leaves with a feeling of not only nostalgia but also excitement about the current form of the genre he loves so much! 

Many years of holding down the main UK Garage show on Rinse FM every Saturday afternoon allowed Cartier to not only define the current trends of the genre but also break key UK Garage artists with his focus on the new underground music being played. This show, paired with his explosive Bars With Carts mixtape series which showcased the best lyricists in the Garage scene has meant that Cartier has developed a loyal following, resulting in his club shows always attracting numerous fans from around the country. 

2017 saw the powerhouse Ministry Of Sound approach Cartier to ask him to mix their compilation ‘Garage XXV’ which was a celebration of 25 years of the genre. This was of course an offer he couldn’t refuse and also a confirmation that his prominence in the scene was continuing.  
 
Now with numerous festivals, club nights and international promoters knocking on his door, the future continues to look bright for Cartier with a resurgence in UK Garage across the UK, he is in prime position to spearhead the development of the genre over the coming years, obtaining more fans and accolades as he goes.
