Nouvelle série de nos [Cours d'Histoire] consacrée ici à la Chrétienté médiévale (Programme de Cinquième et de Seconde). Interrogé par Christophe Dickès, l'historien Arnaud Fossier nous donne dans ce premier volet une définition de la Chrétienté médiévale. Un deuxième volet sera consacré au Temps de moines et un troisième à la société médiévale chrétienne. Au cours de ce premier volet, Arnaud Fossier répond aux questions suivantes:

- Comment définir la Chrétienté médiévale?
- Comment les frontières de la Chrétienté se sont-elles dessinées et comment l'Europe fut christianisée? 
- La Chrétienté se limite t'elle à l'Europe?
- Quel était la relation entre Islam et Chrétienté?
- Existe t'il un lien entre civilisation chrétienne et colonisation ou universalisme?
- Qu'est-ce que la modernité doit à la Chrétienté médiévale?

Notre professeur: Normalien et ancien membre de l’École française de Rome, Arnaud Fossier est actuellement Maître de conférences en histoire à l’université de Bourgogne. Ses recherches portent sur le gouvernement de l’Église et l’Italie médiévale. Il vient de publier à l’Ecole française de Rome: Le bureau des âmes, Écritures et pratiques administratives de la Pénitencerie apostolique (XIIIe-XIVe siècle). Arnaud Fossier présente pour Storiavoce une série consacrée à la Chrétienté médiévale en trois volets.

Love God, Love Others

Some questions to ponder:

1) Do I consider often God's loving vigilance over me? Do I realize that this Fatherly trait oversees everything in my life (i.e. what is joyful and also what may be burdensome and trying)?

2) Am I also eager to live a loving vigilance over everything that God has entrusted to me (i.e. my gifts, talents and also the spiritual means for my holiness and apostolate)?

3) Am I ready to take a more active vigilance over the persons God has entrusted to me? Do I ask myself everyday in my examination of conscience how I have concretized this loving vigilance for the others?
