"Lost in the party" is my take on some of the best tracks from the top-trending house genres and artists of the moment.

Seems like the 90's are here to stay, at least for a while longer, so I got some neo-retro tracks (can you say Blawan?), a healthy dose of acid and a whole lot of future garage, yeah I said it!

Been very excited about getting this mix shipped and out the door; it's a real banger. =)

DJ Cira tastefully blends many flavors of house and techno with a keen ear for infectious, body moving grooves. Based out of San Francisco, she frequently performs for promoters and collectives around the Bay Area and can be found working the decks at iconic clubs such as 1015 Folsom, Monarch, The Great Northern, and Public Works.

Known for her dynamic stage presence and ability to inspire crowds, Cira started DJing in 1998 after being immersed in the early American rave scene. As a result, her sets showcase a vast knowledge of dance music drawing from a diverse collection that spans over 30 years. She has since shared the stage with international headliners from Purple Disco Machine and Franc Moody to house legends Braxe & Falcon and Doc Martin. Fusing technical mastery with ecstatic energy, DJ Cira has become a staple of the San Francisco underground scene.

For my 10 year Soundcloud anniversary I decided to revisit the very first mix I posted, both as an exercise in craft and well, I just wanted to do these tracks justice. The original mix represents the first output after a long transition from vinyl to digital DJing. What resulted is adorable, but it's not exactly the mix I had in my head at the time, nor now. Let's put the past decade of learnings to use!

What's changed?

- The gear. Original mix was recorded on Traktor 2 with a VCI-100, updated mix is on a Pioneer setup.
- The transitions. I kept the original spirit of the mixes as much as possible, many mix points are the same, others are not. Generally speaking, transitions are a lot longer, smoother, and any phrasing issues were "corrected". EQ blends are of course completely different, who knows what I did back then.
- That's about it. Tracklist is identical and I tried to recreate the setup I had at the time by disabling key lock/master tempo and not using any FX (ok ok there may be a teensy echo on the last 20 secs).

What was the experience like?

- Humbling. I thought highly of my skills back in 2012, but there are many things that I would call mistakes today that I would never keep in a studio mix.
- Hard work. In order to backwards engineer the mix points, I had to listen to the original over and over again (did I mention humbling?) and recreate everything in Rekordbox. I for sure used loop functionality in the original mix so this was tricky at times.
- Surprising. I didn't let tracks breathe nearly as much as I do now. Back then, I mixed hard and fast. This had the effect of making my mixes more exciting and creative, despite not sounding as smooth. I miss that raw energy and obvious sound of two tracks in the mix together.
- Nostalgic. I didn't anticipate how much it would make me reflect on my life in 2012. Hearing those tracks over and over and performing the mix many times again, it was almost like traveling back in time.

I wouldn't normally recommend going back to recreate old mixes, but given the right context and the right tracks, I can now see what a rewarding experience it can be. In the day to day, progression can be difficult to see -- sometimes you need a healthy dive into your past work to understand how far you've come.

The 2022 version is definitely the same mix...but it's also very different. I'm very happy with the result, this is the mix I intended to make. Enjoy!

Since 1999, the legendary Sunkissed house night has shaped and formed the Oslo club scene thru monthly nights at BLÅ, Fabrikken and now Jaeger, making it the ever longest running club concept of the capitol. 

But it wasnt until 2005 that the first Sunkissed daycruise took place, resulting in a yearly tradition disturbing the residents of the Oslo fjord with an oversized soundsystem on a vessel filled to the brim of smiling house freaks.

This year was no exception as the ship set sail in june, with a captain always destined to find sunshine. OsloClubCast was there to record the atmosphere, covering sets by Olanskii, g-HA and Vinny Villbass, in order of appearance...

Hey everyone, thanks for tuning in again! It’s been a while since I last uploaded a set, and I’m excited to share this one with you. This mix is a collection of the best tracks I’ve been playing over the past few months. A lot has happened since the beginning of the year, and I can hardly believe how fast things have been moving. But even in the chaos, there are always a few tracks that capture the essence of this journey. These are the soundtracks that accompany me through this stage of life.

In this set, I started with a lot of energy sounds, gradually building the rhythm and texture until I reached an improvised jam of tracks I don’t get to play often. I also threw in a few fun tracks that made me dance more than a few times hahaha! The journey begins bright and fun, but as the set progresses, it transitions into a deeper, more underground afterhours vibe. It was a fun jam session, exploring the various styles I use in my sets, depending on the night and the crowd’s vibe. Think of it as a menu of what I can serve on any given night.
