@vat6969 has been involved in the Cape Town scene for close to 10 years, passionate around creating unique dance floor environments for the tuned ear. He's been running outdoor festivals since 2016 and started Smalltown beat in 2018 with his South African partners Brendan and Luke. My second mix dedicated to the brilliant Kontakt records covering releases from 2022 / KNT-21  right up to the recent release from Matt Thibideau.  Also a couple from the earlier KNT-13 Bioroot Ep with remixes from Roger Gerresen and Derek Carr which was missing from my pile when the 1st mix recorded.

Cavenous and atmospheric dub & deep techno, solid grooves, inventive energetic remixes and gorgeous colourful pressings...its all here for the connoisseurs!

Basic Channel is a production duo consisting of Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus. They are considered to be pioneers of the dub techno genre, which combines the repetitive beats and basslines of techno with the atmospheric and textural elements of dub music.

Basic Channel's music is characterized by its deep, hypnotic grooves, expansive soundscapes, and emphasis on sonic textures and spatial effects. They are known for their extensive use of delay, reverb, and other processing techniques to create a rich and immersive sonic environment.

One of Basic Channel's most significant contributions to electronic music is the creation of the Chain Reaction record label, which became a key platform for the development of the dub techno sound. They also developed a unique production style that emphasized the use of analog equipment and live performance techniques, which influenced many other electronic music producers.

Their productions are highly regarded for their technical and sonic excellence, and their influence can be heard in the work of many contemporary electronic music producers. Basic Channel's legacy has been further cemented through their work as mastering engineers, where they have helped shape the sound of countless electronic music records over the past few decades.
