Birthday Card

2015 kept @Ambassadeurs extremely busy with a slew of EPs and his debut album – “Patterns” released on Lost Tribe Records.

Now back in the studio recording his second album, Mark is dropping this EP in the interim to keep the fans sweet. He wrote these tracks during an escape in the autumn from the city to the countryside. The change of scenery from concrete to wilderness is reflected in the more organic sounds on this 4 tracker, which was written with the bare minimum of equipment to hand, even sampling some old cassettes that were left behind in the cottage where he was staying.

so while a simpler and more stripped back approach was adopted on this EP, it’s still distinctively his sound neatly executed to see a great year out.

Mike Metro, LO’99, Benson, Terace & Dom Dolla have combined their individual studio powers to produce a god damn masterpiece. We had no idea how to tackle this from a label point of view so we thought what better excuse than to start the first ADM boyband… Introducing Da’bois! Long had these 5 young gents talked about getting together in a dark dingy room to create a twisted belter, it was looking bleak at first, as none of them were slightly prepared for the session, but after several hundred screwed up synth patches and shitty jokes - the canvas started to take shape, and what a fine shape it took!!!

Riddim Commission’s “More Fire” featuring $tush was first premiered by Annie Mac back in August and smashed up Notting Hill Carnival in London. We included the badman tune on This is Night Bass Volume 2 while we were waiting on remixes from a few of our favorite producers. Sinden comes through with a squelchy bass banger, Jay Robinson goes full throttle with the grimy bass sounds and Lo’99 rounds it out with a bubbly late night groover.

To find out more, we went straight to the eloquent horse-owner himself, getting him to open all the way up about the process that has made him a dance music icon for well over a baker’s decade.

“First of all, I never talk about the music itself,” he says from a youth hostel in Calgary. “It’s borderline sacrilegious to talk about the grooves. They have a language all their own, the grooves do. I just birth them and send them out into the world to make others happy. And that’s what makes me happy, and that’s what makes you happy.”

"This was a collaboration with Hudson Mohawke, another kindred spirit I identified and subsequently befriended. We worked on it while waiting for a cab at the airport. The rest of the details are blurry; all I have in my notebook on Hudson for that day is “Young, hip-hop - really good friends.” These kind of limitations are intentional; alone you can deliberate forever. But when you have to make someone else happy, all the personal anxieties go out the airport window and onto some baggage loader. Let him worry about staying current in an ever-evolving dance music landscape.”

Back in 2013 Tichauer signed to French Express, home to Jonas Rathsman, Moon Boots and label owner Perseus, where he dropped his lauded ‘Devotion’ LP – a fact made all the more inspiring knowing that the album is a first effort from a producer born completely deaf and now lives with just one working ear.
