Career to date

Started playing piano at an early age, studied composition at Osaka College of Music, and began working in music. 1987 joined Nintendo as a sound composer, responsible for music for Nintendo's video game software. 1995 left Nintendo to work as a freelance artist. His representative works during his time at Nintendo include "Ice Hockey," "Fumikon Mukashi Hanashi Yuyuki," "Super Mario Kart," "Sim City," and "Pilot Wings. Since becoming independent, he has provided music for animation, commercials, and games. He has written many books and serialized his work in magazines and other publications.

Rummaging back through the files, blowing off the dust, and running it back for a new mix of deep bass grooves, funky acid licks and a heavy hit of soul. 

I am feeling to joys and struggles of springtime all at once, rising earlier with the light and watching as spring blooms swell and muster their energy, eventually exploding in brilliant color, feeling the aches and exhaustion from long farm days. This mix is a collection of mostly new records, peppered with some classics, and is a rumination on new experiences amidst familiar cyclical patterns. Each track tethers recent inspiration from the local scene, my own scouring of youtube, soundcloud, tracklists, and from nature. The cycles of seasons' change can be motivation for new growth and new experiences, and yet as another farm season rolls around, I'm greeted by many of the same tasks as last year. Listening back to this mix brings memories and feelings flooding in- new, faint, vivid, sweet, blissful.

From a powerhouse team at GameChops, Duzzled, Qora, and Dj Cutman collaborated to bring us an electrified remix of Hikaru Utada’s iconic “Simple and Clean” from Kingdom Hearts! 🗝️

Duzzled, Dj Cutman, and QORA are familiar names at GameChops. Duzzled produces dubstep and electro EDM, and this summer released DYNAMAXED, a full-length Pokémon album. Dj Cutman is the founder and mix engineer for GameChops, and QORA is a vocalist and producer best known for her lofi beats as Coffee Date.

“Simple and Clean” was originally written and produced by Japanese superstar Hikaru Utada to promote the release of Kingdom Hearts back in 2002. Now 20 years later, the song remains a classic and stands amongst the most beloved video game vocal themes. 

With crisp and modern electro-house production, Duzzled begins the remix of “Simple and Clean” as an homage to the PlanitB version featured in the opening cinematic of Kingdom Hearts. QORA delivers a powerful and emotional vocal performance, while Dj Cutman meticulously mixed and mastered the track.

Chiptunes = WIN is a blog (https://chiptuneswin.com/) that covers most of what falls under the "video game music" umbrella.  They release compilations of chiptune music selected out of submissions sent to them.  Then, for each main comp, they get a different record label or collective to release submissions that didn't make the original + some new songs from the collaborating label's musicians.  Since DESKPOP's roots are in chiptune, we were more than happy to participate!  This compilation is an excellent showcase of what VGM has been, and where it could go.  We have a free download on Bandcamp, with streaming on Spotify/etc soon.  Enjoy!
