Following on from last month’s brooding initial F2 release from PVC, we reach out to the expanding Formula Records family, and bring through a double header from Birmingham head Tuff Culture. Mixing up dancefloor styles, the two tracks on offer here take in a range of influences, from speed garage touches, jungle signals and straight up bassline, ‘It Could Be’ / ‘Close’ sees F2 pushing forward into the rave with abandon.

‘It Could Be’ comes across as one part piano house anthem to two parts bassline banger, with added cut up UKG vocals thrown into the mix. A track to stop and take notice of in the dance, this one has been a staple in the sets of Formula head honcho Champion for some time. Meanwhile ‘Close’ comes with stepping house claps and a weighty low-end, topped off by a pure garage melody that harks back to the heyday of Exposure and Garage Nation, whilst the insistent “gangsta” refrain reminds you this one’s for the heads-down crew.

Over the next few months you’ll see a steady flow of digital-only releases from F2 to run in tandem with the current Formula Records output, each one finely honed for maximum impact on your nearest dancefloor.

Originally part of a small crop of American artists inspired by dubstep, garage, grime, jungle and other ‘nuum sounds, Kastle has transitioned through multiple aesthetic iterations since he burst into the popular consciousness 8+ years ago. The past year saw him re-focus his idiosyncratic lens on his roots of UKG and put out several tracks that received regular rotation on radio and many DJs top charts. Whether it was the instant cult classic "4 Real", the collaborations with Mind Of A Dragon, or his remixes for legends like Scott Diaz and AC Slater.

With that momentum we are happy to present "Get Right Inside", a compilation hand selected and mixed by Kastle as he continues to explore garage musics timeless sounds with hints of UK funky that perfectly fit the vibe. Half of the album is exclusive and brand new, a testament to the artists dedication to new sounds and building his own unique world.

The mix kicks off on a low-key vibe with tracks from On1 and Duncan Powell, both a bit ethereal and subtle in their details. We quickly get into an exclusive from Kastle himself, with a vocal number featuring Olivia-Louise & SAZ. As the mix rolls on it gets into some dusty bits from Exit99 and Opus -- a classic sound but still forever in the present moment. Shortly after Higgo's smooth "Interlude" the mix transitions into a few UK funky numbers from some of the best: Roska, Leda Stray, High Class Filter and Ozwald. This allows for a nice transition into some 4x4 from Tuff Culture before ending the mix on the 2-step vibe with ZeroFG's remix of "Darkside" and Cellardore's exclusive, "Get Right Inside", which you will recognize as the namesake for the album -- a nod to the compilers interest and focus on using music to affect positive psychological change inside our minds. Finally, we've got a special Kastle remix of Mind Of A Dragon's "L.T.T.M." featuring Shantie before we close out with Four40’s very own Conrad Glimpse

In our first dance floor concentrated release for a while, we welcome Leda Stray & High Class Filter who have been pushing boundaries within the UK funky and leftfield bass scene. Both top producers in their own right and together we see a hyper-focused 3-track EP that gets straight to the point.

The title track, 'Venga', features Nané who has also shared her talents with Mina & Roska. Discordant pads, rib-shaking sub-bass, and massive tribal drums lend the energy to her vocal prowess. 'Bengal' drops into a quiet before the storm with an onslaught of percussion and your daily dose of steel drums. 'Sphinx' rounds the EP out with a nice blend of jungle-era pads and effects interspersed with thick square waves and pan flutes.

RKS is back with another hard hitting release. The “Nasty Thing EP” comes courtesy of Birmingham based producer/DJ Alex Parkin.

Already established within the Midlands vibrant underground scene as a DJ, Alex Parkin now carries his high energy into this 3 track bundle sure to set off any dance floor.

Title track “Nasty Thing” has a classic old school house and garage feel to it. A punchy 4x4 back bone with garage style percussive “swing”, complimented by a fierce melodic bass line and topped off with a catchy vocal sample and eerie synth pads.

“Zed” follows suite with that classic garage feel with cool synth stabs before breaking down and unleashing into more of a dark bass fuelled banger that switches between 808 style drum patterns and straight four to the floor rhythms. “Prove 2 U” is a collaboration with Chris Lorenzo. Lead initially by a hooky vocal and a dark synth, progressing into a dance floor filler that switches between various melodic bass lines, complimented well by cool stabs, hits and vocal samples over the top of a crisp rolling beat.
