Dalemma - From The Archives - 28.03.2022

I decided it was about darn time that I recorded my longest impromptu mix to date! I played for 4 hours at least, but unfortunately, I think my usb ran out of space or my controller only allows 3 hour recordings maximum. I gotta figure out which one it is for next time, but that's okay haha I still think the 3 hours I managed to record are fun regardless. I love that I have the opportunity to show you at least some of my diversity. I feel like I need at least 24 hours to show you the full range of styles that I love to play, but here's a lil snippet! I love mixing it up and playing multiple genres in my sets, and I think this mix still captures my ability to do that. I had the BEST time recording this, and I hope you enjoy the journey just as much as I did.

Just a fun little mix I recorded while messing around and thinking about what I might play at Treehouse next Saturday (JUNE 4h).. The Space Between My Ears

Did you know that Salvidor Dalis remains were exhumed about a decade ago and despite all the years that had passed and his bodies stage of decomposition, his moustache still remained completely in tact and the same as it ever was? I love that.

This mix was impromptu and I also experimented with it in Ableton afterwards for the first time. I especially had fun editing the ending to close it out in such a fun way ;) It's going to be an amazing journey on Twitch, I love feeling my way through the music now that i'm finally moving past the mathematics and "rules" involved with mixing and being more fluid and experimental.
I seriously cant wait to be streaming to you all on Twitch. Just got a few things to sort first, bare with me! To be able to share my perspectives and emotions with you without any specific guidelines will be a blessing! I can't wait to go down the rabbit hole with you all xx

Lesbian Decadence: Representations in Art and Literature of Fin-de-Siècle France features a rare collection of illustrations from the "decadent period" which began in Paris in the 19th century. The original collection was compiled by French author Nicole Albert and published in 2005 under the title "Saphisme et Decadence Dans Paris Fin-De-Siécle." After a reprint in 2016 by Harrington Park Press, the book won the Goldie award for Anthology/Collections (Creative Non-Fiction) from the Golden Crown Literary Society. Translated by Nancy Erber and William Peniston, the reissue is an expanded edition that now includes a number of rare photographs and cartoons from the original author's private collection — many are not publicly available anywhere else. 

Bill Cohen, the cofounder of Harrington Park Press — a publishing group that focuses on less-explored scholarly topics relating to the LGBT community — told BuzzFeed News in an interview that although same-sex activities were not criminalized in France at the time, "lesbians were still viewed by psychiatrists as disordered souls." 

"Moralists pitied them. In popular society, however, lesbianism was flaunted," he explained. "Some paintings, no doubt, shocked the public in the early 1900s."

This is a recording from when I was planning my set for a recent gig I had supporting NOIYSE PROJECT at Saturday Social. I ended up playing many of these on the day but many of the tracks are just some of my faves that I found while I dug deep through my archives of new and old.

There are a couple of mess ups in this recording but I decided to share it with you regardless because I love each and every song so much - I just had to share!

I love that I've had the opportunity here to show you another side of me where I play more deep, melodic and emotive styles. Taking you on a fun journey through sound as I explore my library looking for the perfect songs to play at the gig.

This impromptu recording is one of my new favourites and I hope that someone out there can find joy in it, just as I have 😊

Feel Good Theory

Here's my set from SubSBass Inna Warehouse on the Sunshine Coast on December 10th, 2022. This was my last gig of 2022, and by far, my absolute favourite! I have been a house head for many years, but more recently, I've really been enjoying bass music, so much so that I seriously can't get enough of it! Not only is the music out of this world but the communities around the bass music scenes that I've been in have been so welcoming and full of some of the most beautiful people I've met so far. I was so lucky to get this gig as it was another blessed opportunity to play on the one and only Hex Soundsystem! One of the, if not THE best soundsystem in Queensland! 📣

I hope you enjoy this mix. My headphones died, so I just did my best 🙊 Had to get this recorded regardless because I'm just so excited to share this fun set with you! This is only the second bass mix I've put together so far, and this was my first time performing and playing it! Have a listen as I explore many of the different styles of bass music and find  navigate through it all 🥰 And I can't wait for another opportunity to play this style of music again somewhere real soon! It's a new year and I couldn't think of a better way to kick it off than to record a brand new bass mix! Behind The Veil

This is my very first recording from back in 2017 when I first started learning to mix. So there are a few mistakes in here, obviously 😅 but I thought i'd share it anyway because there are some great tracks in this mix and I had so much fun recording for the first time that I decided, why not share it and show you my humble beginnings! So please do excuse the messy parts and I hope you enjoy hearing my first attempt at an impromptu multi-genre recording ☺️


November 2022 update: 

I recorded this on my old Traktor S4, and looking back now, I have to say, the s4 was such a cool mixer. It was especially great to learn on and my favourite thing about it was the ability you had to layer effects such as echo, filter and flanger all at once. This was so dope because you can't do that on todays pioneer CDJs and XDJs. If I wanted to be able to layer these same effects today, I would need to invest over $1000 on a compatible effects unit - this is ridiculous in my opinion lol I was actually disappointed when I started djing on CDJs after learning on the S4 for so long, because I had to ditch a bunch of cool tricks I'd learnt using multiple effects. Get your s*** together Pioneer! 😂
