My winning mix from Muzik Magazines bedroom bedlam dj competition.
the mix was recorded in october 1997 on 2 technics 1210's and numark mixer. The sound quality is not up to todays standards but its still ok. if you dont know, Muzik Magazine had a monthly dj comp where each winner got a gig at a major club (james zabiela also won one month)

as it was recorded on cassette tape there is a short break in the middle of the mix (where the tape flips over). The mix was recorded Live in one take and comes with the occasional mistake, its raw and has loads of energy and a selection of great tracks.
sadly soundcloud couldnt cope with a 90min WAV. so its a 320 mp3

for me its one of my favorite mixes ive ever done.
the article in the picture says its from feb 1997 but its feb 1998.

There are three levels of reworks (bootlegs)

1.  These are the ones that I do for fun and give away on soundcloud.
2.  These are the ones that I play in radio shows and podcasts, these I don’t give away and keep to make my sets more unique.
3.  The super special ones that I keep to play in live shows in those places called “nightclubs”. These I never give away or play online and they’re reserved only for people that come to see me play.


This rework has been a “Level 3” for a few years. But the problem is there are no nightclubs for me to play this in and no one can hear it, so let’s give it away for free on soundcloud. INCREASE THE PEACE

Slugg - Grave Digga' [RRDL-021]

A DJ hobby of 20 years has given me opportunities to DJ across the globe, from humble beginnings in Wales (UK) to Australia, Europe and beyond!

It all started with a 2001 runner-up spot in Muzik Magazine’s renowned 'Bedroom Bedlam' competition. I got a break later that year with a residency with Welsh outfit TimeFlies, before going on to establish my own night, FUNKTION, in 2003, which became renowned both locally and beyond as a forward-thinking haven for top quality House & Breaks. 

In 2008 we raised the game with a new night – THE RARE ONE – which over the following 5 years became a major player in the Welsh scene, hosting a diverse range of huge names such as Andy C, Evil Nine, Orbital, Stanton Warriors. We even coaxed Calvin Harris to a former barn in mid-Wales for one 1,000+ capacity event!

Age has changed my priorities, but the music still reigns.
